They headlined with Acceptance and Saosin, as well as that tour they're on in Australia (and there may be more than that).

why? as i've seen Anberlin is way more "out" there than Emery is. as in, more likely to sell tix to more people. sounds like a pretty good tour, is Jonezetta new?
Steve Henderson
01/26/06, 05:49 AM
Anberlin has sold more, I believe.
Not even close, man. I do not have current numbers, but Anberlin has sold around 67k total, and Emery sold 21k their FIRST WEEK. Plus, The Weak's End sold over 75k. Thus, I highly doubt Anberlin has sold more. Personally, I prefer them to Emery, but oh well.

Anberlin is way more popular and accessible. It's all over the radio and I'm pretty sure it has sold more. Emery is a hardcore/screamo kid only band.

I've been listening to Emery far longer than most of you have. I have also been listening to Anberlin before most of you. If there is any debate over whether or not Anberlin can headline or who is more socially conformed, the answer is Anberlin by far. Emery's style caters to a more specific group whereas Anberlin is more 'pop rock'
you guys will be alright though.

just wanted to make a couple points known:
>this wasn't supposed to be announced yet, i'm sure it mistakenly got out
>its a co-headlining tour with Emery and Anberlin w/ emery closing out most shows
>both bands are comparable in sales (dont forget there are a slew of those "christian sales" that dont show up on certain soundscan charts)....both bands are around 90K i believe.
>this is a great tour, jonezetta kicks major ass, Emery and Anberlin are both great bands as well as great friends....so lets not bicker about who is better, cooler, bigger, blah blah....its going to be a great show, buy a ticket or dont....Done. Next.

01/26/06, 07:12 AM
all i know about jonzetta is that they are managed by the same guy who manages as cities burn. so they may be that same type of music. repeat may be cause i don't know for sure.
anberlin should headline this and they are. not discounting emery, but anberlin is a good choice for headlining and pretty much tooth and nail's flagship band.

I remember Mae, Anberlin, Watashi Wa, mewithoutYou, and Emery opened. I blocked out Anberlin at the time so I forgot about them. FSF shouldve played this last year as some may recall, making it pretty much the best tour ever, except for Anberlin and Emery.

Emery is neither hardcore or screamo. there are no popular screamo bands. Just stupid pop music with screaming.
emery is a lot bigger with most people I know. Both put on good shows but Emery is more exciting live.

I have a hard time believing that, to tell you the truth. Anberlin's tour with Acceptance had Anberlin putting on one of the best shows I saw last year. They're all over the place (in a good way). But I have yet to see Emery live.
Anberlin's latest album has passed 85k in sales, in case anyone was wondering.

It's not about being cool. It's just frustrating when every thread I go into someone classifies a band and then someone says "They're not emo!!" Yes, we all know that, you don't have to impress us.
Tony Pascarella
01/26/06, 09:18 AM
As someone said earlier, some Christian stores don't report to Soundscan, and since the band is on a T&N, a discrepancy of 15k units is certainly possible.

Yeah, but Emery has a very accessible sound. To say they are screamo/hardcore says otherwise.

how'd you get into my diary and find the entry entitled "i started listening to emery today?" i just love people who have been listening to some band longer than i have. for a second there i thought i had been listening to them the longest.
as for the show... i've not seen anberlin live but i 've seen emery a few times... they are amazing live. they showed everyone up on the air one stage at spirit west coast and they owned the crowd during the 18 visions tour they were on. i'd hate to play after them.
