View Full Version : What is the best opening track to a great album?
What cd opener did you hear and just know you were going to love the album/band?
For me, it's Just Rock n' Roll, but The Space Between and Hit or Miss are very close.

Gotta be Dumpweed. That guitar intro is such a great way to kick off a great album like Enema.

Though I will say in terms of New Found Glory, "Understatement" is their best album opener. Gotta love it.

Anthem Part Two > Dumpweed
That being said, I voted Dumpweed.

Great Expectations is pretty near to being the best opener I've heard. Its right up there with Kill Me Quickly, Tatou and Private Eye.
Set Phasers to Stun is TBS's best opener.

Of these I would go with NFG, but with the original version with the intro from "The Outsiders."

I said FOB....but I think "Thriller" was a more epic opening song.

So many better album openers than what's on this list.

Do we have to choose one of these? Outside of those seven, I'd have to say "I Was A Lover" on Return To Cookie Mountain by TV On The Radio, "Race In" on Mirrored by Battles, or "Comfy In Nautica" on Person Pitch by Panda Bear.

The Ring in Return + In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3, hands down.
On the list though, it's a tie between Dumpweed and You Know How I Do.

Glad to see that the best song on that list is winning.
EDIT: Not anymore though. Sigh.

I have a soft spot for all of these songs, but I went with Dumpweed.
My favorite opening track altogether would probably be "Masterpiece" by Bayside, though.

Out of those it's You Know How I Do
"Tautou" by Brand New, but out of your choices it is easily "You Know How I Do" by Taking Back Sunday.

my favorite fall out boy opener is actually 'Thriller', but even if it was on the list I wouldn't have voted for it

I'd have to go with Valencia though...the space between blows my mind. A perfect pop song, imho.
