Yeah, they should be back in studio getting back to being yellowcard.
While the album has grown on me, I listened to OA and then L&S right after it and noticed such a difference.
And it doesnt help that you have all these magazine reviewers giving the album the highest praise, because all they do is get paid to write, even when they dont know what they're talking about.

I like most of the new CD. No, not as much as OA, but I like it, and think they'll probably make something great with the next one. I really like How I Go, it's a good song. I don't know about it for a single, though. I like Sure Thing Falling and Grey for singles.

Yep, they've actually managed to get worse with each release not including their first release.

Has anyone else noticed that the song is just the exact storyline from the movie big fish in song form.
if not i'll lay it out for you with key lines from the song:
"My friend the giant and traveling sales" - Main character meets a giant and is in travelling sales
"The years all behind me, the stories exhaled" - movie is all about the stories
" And I’m, drying out, crying out, This isn’t how I go…" he says that in the movie, and he knows how he's going to die
"I could tell you of a man not so tall" - played by danny devito
"Tell you of a girl that I saw, I froze in the moment and she changed it all" - he saw a girl and time froze
so yeah... it's the movie. Of course it is a good movie, i recommend you check it out some time, probably get more enjoyment out of it than you do out of this album.

The album is iffy on me, I like it, but then I don't like it. If anything I dont think how I go, is a hit of a song, sure it's not too bad, but there are a few more songs on the album that if anything are better, so we'll have to see what happens.

This has been the only cd i've listened to for the past week. It's a really really good CD. I didn't think i was going to like it but regardless of what everyone says i think its a really good cd.
Cudos for them willing to take a chance on this album. I'm sure the people at Capitol arnt to happy with the less bouncy sound but Yellowcard stuck by their guns and made the album they wanted to make. This wont sale nearly as well as OA but this is far and away a better album.

I think it's cool they are releasing this song, it expands their horizons a little more.

I think its a good CD, nothing special, "Two Weeks From Twenty" is one of the most God-awful songs ever, terrible lyrics, but "How I Go" is a excellent song and guest vocals make it sound even better.

this coming from a guy who put Senses Fail and Mest in their favorite bands...
so they're following up a shitty single with one that's even worse. they should pick 'rough landing' or 'martin sheen'.

yeah, it is big fish, exactly! I actually thought about that movie when i first heard this song but did not realize it was an exact retelling until listening to it again now. That makes me like this song even more, love that movie.
If you look at this album as a staight up pop-rock album than it's damn good...i've been listening to it lots for the past two weeks.
However, upon listening to OA and OFTKs once again they've definitely lost a lot of music creativity and passion. I'd say L&S is more mature musically...but not as impressive technically or energy wise as the playful OFTK or bouncy OA. Where's the riffing on the guitar? The dualing violin and guitar solos? How about letting LP rip through a fast song punk style?
I guess once you hit your twenties you get too old to punk out, i suppose (i.e. inspection 12 - get rad, yellowcard - anything recent, green day - last few cds...). It's all still good, and i think american idiot has become my favorite green day cd over nimrod and dookie now, and i love get rad, but i've definitely noticed a lot of more pop-punk acts "growing-up" and ditching the punk for the rock.
that is unless you're NOFX, they never seem to grow up, god love 'em.

this Cd is growing on me, except for Two Weeks to 20. That song is embarrassingly bad.

sell outs
Actually, I'm pretty sure they'd be a "sell out" if they stuck with the same sound they had in Ocean Avenue. This album, in no way, says to me "sell out." Which is still the dumbest term, EVER.
That aside, I love this album. Probably more than Ocean Avenue as a whole, but not One For the Kids. Either way, How I Go is a fantastic song, and it'd be interesting to see them finally put out an acoustic song as a single. I thought "Sure Thing Falling" would be perfect, though. I like "Two Weeks From Twenty," but that's just me.
I think the best song on the album isn't on the album, being "When We're Old Men." Very OFTKish.

You should get kicked off this site for stating "sell outs." That would be cool to say maybe when you are in 6th grade. It's pretty much like saying the New England patriots are sellouts this year because they didn't make it to the superbowl...it makes no sense at all douche bag.

The only way this album will sell as many or more than OA is if they do release How I Go as a single. The teenie boppers probably have bought it already thinking it d be another OA, the more rock sound will bring more of a mature musical audience, and if they release this song and it gets airplay, theyd attract alot of new listeners. I personally think they should release it, cuz its a great song and could maybe get a grammy nomination but Ryan says in the interview "towards the end" implying itd be the last single off LS. "Sure thing Falling" while its a decent rock song, i think the lyrics are lame "books and crooks" and the getting high reference surely isnt radio friendly and itd be real bold if they release it regardless. Rough Landing Holly and Holly Wood died, i laughed at those titles whenever i first saw them, but they are AMAZING good songs. Rough Landing is very catchy, while the latter is just plain brillant (especially the end of the song) Alright i could say more but i hate whenever people leave super large posts, im out

Easily the most dissapointing album in my eyes in a long long time. I have listened to the album about 8 times now, and I only find myself liking three of the songs. Great to see them change and do what they want, but I'll stick with the old Yellowcard sound.

what happened to the dixie chicks?
This album has 3 or 4 singles on it. It's not as bad as everyone keeps saying. The bad songs are just really BAD.

How I Go will be the last single off of the record. The next one is Rough Landing.
