that seems like a really odd pairing to me. hm. death cab fans suck now so i wouldn't go to see them next time they played chicago anyway.

So, let me get this straight... you cant see a BAND because their FANS suck? So.. do you go to shows to see the band or the fans? To me, your statement is the equivalent of saying, "I can't smell anything because I'm holding my ears".

Yes, because the last time I went to see them the fans were completely obnoxious, bitchy and immature. It's hard for me to enjoy myself when I'm surrounded by assholes.

You don't think you're generalizing at all by saying "Death Cab For Cutie fans suck now anyway"? Contrary to what you may believe, there's probably at least 5 or 6 (or maybe even more!) DCFC fans who don't suck at all. Just speaking from personal experience, I've NEVER been at a show where fans were so bad, they they outweighed the performance of the band I went to see. Fans could be completely obnoxious, but if the band I like is putting on an awesome show, nothing else matters. That may just be me though.
When I saw Death Cab this fall, all their newer fans walked and talked during all their old (better) songs and were just generally rude. It honestly ruined the entire experience for me. Plus if they play a new song you can't hear Ben sing because about 250 fat 15 year old girls think they're on the mic.

I know there will be some cool people, but overall, the people blew this time. I left upset because I LOVE Death Cab live, and I knew after that night, I probably wouldn't be going back to see them. It sounds like 70x7 experienced pretty much the same thing I did at the show he went to.

Have you never heard that fans can ruin a show? Is that really so crazy to hear?

Understood, I've never had that problem. I've gotten in a fist fight at a show, i had a beer bottle get thrown and happen to hit me in my forehead, i broke two ribs on the barricade, and never once has the thought of me not attending a show anymore ever crossed my mind. There are some complete douche bags at shows who go there with the intentions of fucking it up for everyone else... I could never let them get the best of me. Seeing my favorite bands live far outweighs any of that stuff.

This is amazing news for me! Franz Ferdinand put on a great show and I've never seen Death Cab, but I can imagine. Fuck the fans if they're bad, this will just be a fun concert to go to.

Agreed...I feel the same, but I can understand her getting pissed at the fans. Anyways, this is going to be a great show. DCFC is one of my favorite bands and I like Franz a lot espc. their latest effort.

I somewhat agree with how fans can ruin a show (for example, the Sense Fail kids at this past Saves The Day tour, and how they would try to fight you if you moved up front for Saves The Day, cause they wanted to listen to their beloved Buddy, who sounds like the teacher from the Peanuts cartoons, with screaming.) but I would never let them stop me from seeing a band I supported and loved. I've been to plenty of shows with obnoxious fans and have never left the show saying, "I will never see them again because the fans suck." That's like saying you don't like Death Cab just cause they got on MTV. It should be an experiance between you and the band also, so it shouldn't matter what the people are doing around you, it's their experiance too.
On a side note, this tour might not be that great due to the fact that I'm sure it's co-headlining and Death Cab will most likley be the opener.

This should be kick ass. I shall attend, whether the fans are lame or not, the bands are most definitely not lame.

I couldnt agree more. Franz is just some of the best music today, not many bands rock out as good as them.

Death Cab for Cutie is in my Top 5 favorite bands, I don't exactly know where, but I know that much. Having said that, I don't know if I could handle seeing them live from the sound of the newer / younger fanbase. At least I have the DVD and live EP / sets to hold me over. I wish I would've been 21 for the show they just put on in the Fall.

I like your comparsion of Buddy to peanuts!!
I would love to see DCFC live. I'm not a big Franz fan but I bet they put on a great live show. I hope ticket prices aren't that high but I would pay it just to see DCFC.

THANK YOU FRANK.
It might be the immaturity of you guys that is letting the fans ruin a good show. 15 yr old fat girls? Are they taller than you? And do you have a mouth to speak with? Use it.

yes because telling over a thousand loud and immature teenagers to stop being loud immature teenagers is going to do shit. do you see how stupid that comment was?
if i'm paying $30 plus dollars for a show, i want the whole experience to be good. there are some artists who i haven't seen as many times and/or who are so fucking good live that i'll overlook the assholes, but i can't do that with death cab.

I don't think I'll be going to this, because I agree partially about the fans thing. When I went to see deathcab, iI bumped into someone, and they flipped out at me and kicked me in the shin. I found that to be slightly overdramatic, seeing how it's a show, and SOME people want to move around. The second reason, I love a show with a lot of dancing, even pushing and shoving are pretty fun..I just love feeling an interaction with the crowd. Deathcab..was not like that, but I love the band, I think seeing them twice is enough. I'm going to try and catch them when they support new albums, so I can experience new songs being performed.

To the people saying "you're gonna let fat, screaming 15 year old girls ruin it for you?", it's not like we're going to the show to get upset. We're not letting anyone doing anything. I don't really understand how you don't understand why people older than 18 don't want to go to a band-of-this-caliber's show.
I don't want to pay $30 to watch a band play while a bunch of fat girls scream, talk, and annoy the shit out of me. It's one thing if it's outdoors like Warped Tour or a pop punk show like Fall Out Boy where the energy is insane. This is Death Cab for Cutie. Think a little bit.
