Hey, this week I did recs with my friend Dan..here are mine:
Some By Sea (http://www.purevolume.com/somebysea)- I cant wait for their upcoming CD, it's going to blow some people away.
Joe Wilson (Feeling Left Out) (http://www.purevolume.com/feelingleftout)- Some of the best acoustic rock out there.
Terminal (http://www.myspace.com/terminal)- I don't know why this band is having so much trouble keeping new members in it....the CD, How The Lonely Keep, is one of my favorites.
Kaddisfly (http://www.myspace.com/kaddisfly)- Another release I can not wait for, 06 is gong to be a great year.
Saturday Night Scene (http://www.myspace.com/sundaynightscene)- Keep an eye out on these guys. Listen to the song, "A Crash Before This".
Dans Recs:
Watashi Wa (http://www.purevolume.com/WatashiWa): I can't help but keep pimping these guys. Eager Seas is something to take note of and pick up. Plus how can you miss out on their final album!
Far-Less (http://www.purevolume.com/farless): Yes two Tooth And Nail artists. Obviously this band is a bit different then Watashi Wa but still good none the less. You can expect Everyone Is Out To Get Us to be in your CD/ Mp3 player for a long time and maybe entering your ears a little earlier then expected. Check out "Jumping The Shark," it's most definitely the best track on the CD.
Depeche Mode (http://myspace.com/DepecheMode): Last year's Playing The Angel was that classic Depeche Mode my body has been craving for 15 some years. If you liked Playing The Angel make sure you check out Violator by them too.
Denison Witmer (http://www.purevolume.com/denisonwitmer): My album of the year of 2005, how could I not mention them? Denison is a musical genius and once you hear that badass folk you will never want to quit, my crack addiction is gone because of this album.
The Clash: Nothing like going back and listening to some class punk. I could only dream of making an album as good as London Calling.
LCD Soundsystem (http://myspace.com/lcdsoundsystem): This Death From Above artist knows how to rock, in an electronica sort of way. If you're a fan of Daft Punk and The New Pornographers take note. I know I sound like a Victory sticker. No offense Vic(tory).
My Morning Jacket (http://myspace.com/mymorningjacket): Never found out how good this album was until after 2005. That's disappointing considering that I love it to death now. So many different styles packed into one CD = tons of fun.
Portugal. The Man (http://www.purevolume.com/portugaltheman): Anatomy Of A Ghost times ten. It's good, buy it.
Radiohead: You can't have a set of recommendations without Radiohead. I am dying to hear the new stuff. Tell me who I have to kill to get my hands on it and I'll buy the gun. Get the following albums; The Bends, Ok Computer, Kid A, Hail To The Thief, Amnesiac, shit just get them all!
Some more bands that I want to name: Sonic Youth, Sufjan Stevens, Sleater-Kinney, Spoon, or the bands I like to call the "S Clan."
