The Arctic Monkeys (http://www.arcticmonkeys.com/) album which was released in the UK earlier has already sold over 250,000 copies, putting it on course to beat the record of fastest selling debut album in the UK.

no. if it weren't for myspace, this band would be nowhere.

Yeh i really don't get it. This album is really over hyped by all the indie bumholes over here. I mean they have good guitar lines but the singing just makes it suck for me.

Arctic Monkeys are overrated, but I disagree with what you have to say.

You're wrong. WRONG!
at first, the whole "post-punk/disco/dance rock" revival-movement was cool, with the Strokes and Franz Ferdinand and Interpol, but then all this crap like Kaiser Chiefs and the Futureheads and She Wants Revenge came along..and it's gotten old really fast.
the Monkeys only add to this sad state of affairs.

There's a sad truth to that, even if I think Arctic Monkeys are a fun band to listen to.
Sites like Purevolume and Myspace only encourage people to make music after a month's worth of playing, and the countless comments from band whores who just want to be fucked by someone famous deludes them into thinking they are actually good.
I dont' think this is the case with AM though. I thoroughly enjoyed their album, and am not usually the type to indulge in NME-style bands.

eh, I kinda disagree. I personally dont like the Strokes, Franz Ferdinand, or the Kaiser Chiefs at all, but actually enjoy the Arctic Monkeys. The album is a little overhyped though. Even though it is good, its not the most amazing thing to come out of the UK in recent history like many reviews and such suggest.

The previous fastest selling debut was typically Hearsay - a band created by reality tv show popstars (like american idol or what have you) - filth
