Lately I've been speaking to a lot of friends about Adam Morrison and many times the whole comparison to Larry The Legend has come up. I mean I think that his offense does resemble is a little bit in terms of a great pull up jumper from anywhere on the court, decent rebounding skills, but that's about it.
So just wondering how everyone feels about this comparison.

bird was a better shooter at his age. im not big on comparing people to one another. all i know is he will turn out to be a good pro :)

everyone makes this comparison because they're both white guys who can shoot, although it's surprising no one ever compares Reddic to anyone else.

Morrison and Bird have a lot in common in terms of style, attributes, the way they play the game, their schools, there is a bunch there. Reddick is a small guy he isn't like a Bird becuase of his size. I mean I guess you can compare him to Steve Kerr or Mark Price

. I mean I guess you can compare him to Steve Kerr or Mark Priceits hard to say redick plays like kerr or price. the only similarity is that they all shoot well

i remember when he played for the Sonics, he had like one good game against the Nuggets. he had 31 on 10-11 shooting i think but gave up 30+ on D to Voshon Lenard

I compare JJ Redick to Kyle Korver, but that's because I think Duke creates mediocre NBA players.

adam morrison is as much larry bird as greg oden is bill russell.
we're talking about an all time great in bird ...you can compare styles but at this point, nobody in their right mind can make an argument that he'll be as good. That'll take about 5 years in the NBA averaging 30 pts and 10 boards with an NBA title already in his pocket before comparisons carry some weight.

Exception to the rule.
Name one other big name player at Duke in the last 10 years to be more than a decent NBA player.

I'm not comparing them in terms of overall talent, simply just how they play the game.

bird is a career 24 ppg, 10 rpg, 6 apg and nearly a career 50% shooter.
morrison can pull of the 50% fg...
but i doubt he ever averages any of those numbers in a season.
adam morrison has more in common with thunder dan than larry bird. which isnt a bad comparison.

bird was a much better rebounder and much better passer. bird had vision. people forget this cuz magic sort of overshadowed that portion of birds game.
also their stroke on the shot is much different.
basically its jsut being white that they have in common. larrys trashstache was even blonde so morrisson cant even do that right.

what do you guys think about a redick to jeff hornacek comparison?
you know. honestly, that's not a bad comparison at all. i dont know if he can average 5 apg, but i think his offensive production could be close. horny had quite a few good years.

if redick ends up having a career like hornacek then he should be very pleased imo

and the more i think about it...im going to say he has a mahmoud abdul rauf career.
without the name change of course.
the player formely known as chris jackson was an absolute beast in college. aeraged 29 ppg, 3 rpg and 3 apg for LSU.
drafted by the nuggets, came into the league and averaged 14 ppg, 3 apg, and 2 rpg...with his career best season being 19 ppg, 4 apg, and 3 rpg...i definately seeing jj having a very similar career to that, finishing with career averages of 15 ppg, 4 apg, and 2 rpg.

Abdul Rauf was a real solid player which I see redick being now

Also duke...Laettner had some solid years early in his career. Solid 18ppg and 8 rpg

JJ Redick is like... the #1 example of why college is a fucking joke. Move that goddamn 3 point line back and we'll see if he'll really be any good in the NBA

watch a team like louisville. no one drives. they sit around the arc and pass the ball around for 33 seconds and then shoot an NBA jumpshot worth 3 points.
i fuckin hate college basketball.
