I'm kinda nervous to see how the Braves pitching does without Leo Mazzone..
I bet we still win the East;)

i was kind of sad, since i've lost literally all hope in the chicago cubs. but now that Texas Rangers have gotten some pitching without really losing any of their hitting, they couldput together a nice little run.

...they lost alfonso soriano
radiofriendly
02/01/06, 10:30 AM
on most other teams, i would be concerned, but they have far too many offensive weapons. they had enough to deal Soriano, and Wilkerson's not half bad in return.

losing 36 hr's and 100+ rbi's is going to hurt any ballclub.
even though wilkerson did play in that horrible stadium in dc, he actually hit for less power in away games.

Get me in May, i'll be asking for Lions, again.

I have faith in a healthy Pedro, a still effective Glavine, and Trachsel and Heilman playing up to their potential. I also think Zambrano will be better this year with some more run support. An extra arm wouldn't hurt, however.

I have very little faith in him, but I think he can be an effective 4th starter. For some reason he's gotten awful run support the last two years (more awful than the other starters) and I don't think that will be the case this year.

i agree i wouldnt have last year but this year all the additions to the lineup made them more deadly...you cant pitch around anyone..well excpet for the 8 hole to get to 9

the Tigers are a questionable franchise. They seriously need to get pudge out of town, too, this year. before he breaks down more or "can't leave venezuela due to the bad 80 degree and sunny weather".

i don't know if i'd call Glavine "effective" compared to what he's been capable of.

He had a 3.53 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP last year, both of which were slightly above his career averages.

That's what everyone said last year. Look how that turned out. The shoulder injury is so minor at this point it's barely worth noting. Hell, the toe injury is a much bigger issue at the moment.

and didn't fair well against intra-division teams. mainly the braves. they need him to pitch well against division opponents.
but i still think the braves are screwed this season. leo mazzone is more important to them than maddux or glavine.

The whole team didn't fare well against the Braves, as usual.
I still think this is the year, though. The young bats on Atlanta worry me, but the pitching just isn't the same as it has been.

And where did they finish?

Not hardly. We had by far the worst pitching staff in the East last season and still managed to win it. leo is a great loss...but he's definitely not more important to winning than Bobby.

Yeah, those young bats are what got us through the season. And of course Andruw's.
If we could put together a decent rotation with some good relief, i think we'd have a great chance of going farther than the first round this season.

I could swear I heard that all the "experts" picked them to finish first. I may be confused with the season before that though.

you would think it would be eaiser for a pitcher to come back from an ankle injury than a shoulder one. He wont be 04 Schill, but he'll be better than 05 Schill.

The Cubs got Juan Pierre and I'm kinda excited! They finally got a defensive center fielder and a quick baserunner that'll steal 40+ bases. And a lead off hitter for once! haha Corey Patterson was too unpredictable but his homers were nice.

Who do I use as my last keeper in my keeper league? Pedro or Buehrle? Pedro's injury potential worries me...
My other keepers are Ortiz and Halladay, then I'm probably going to take Tejada or Oswalt with my first rd pick.

Giants have made some good pickups this off season and I think if they could actually stay healthy they have a good shot.

02/04/06, 05:03 AM
well, the giants moves are nothing compared to us picking up Todd Jones (a-fucking-gain) and Kenny Rogers. Tigers = 06 Central Division Champs.
But i'd settle for not-worse-than-Kansas-City, in place of a division title.
