I've always been fond of George.
The title and your post are asking two very different questions.
John Lennon is easily the "best" member of The Beatles, but George Harrison is my favorite.

That could be argued as Paul had a lot more success after The Beatles, but there is no doubt John would have been extremely successful. George's albums after The Beatles were also greatly successful. They are all amazingly talented.

haha this reminded me of the scene in "Walk Hard" when John C Riley is meeting the "Beatles" in India and simply says "I like the little one!" (referring to Ringo)

I know that John Lennon always gets all the praise when it comes to members of the Beatles, but I never understood it because I feel like most of the great beatle songs were Pauls brain children. The sgt. pepper album was Pauls brainchild and he wrote some of there most famous songs like Hey Jude, Yesterday, Eleanor Rigby, and Let it Be.....To me John had the better solo carrer but while they were members of the beatles Paul was the man.

I see no argument why Lennon is better than McCartney that doesn't involve "Imagine".

paul is by far a better musician, and definitely created the modern ballad, and i think had the better voice. john was cooler, but not really better. the beatles wouldn't be the beatles without either, however, and while john did control the group, paul certainly deserves more credit than 'riding john's coattails'.

Paul was a brilliant pop songwriter as well. Anyone who doesn't give him this is a fool. With that said, John's songs were imbued with such a momentous air of creativity and vision (as seen in tunes such as Across The Universe, Strawberry Fields Forever, Because, Happiness Is A Warm Gun, All You Need Is Love, Come Together, Dear Prudence, I Want You (She's So Heavy), etc.) that I can't look the other way.

I was just about to write what the person above me wrote so I won't repeat it, but it is a matter of opinion--also most of John's songs were more "ground-breaking."

Beatles are overrated.
Explanation as to why you feel this way or do you just state things for the sake of it?
My favorite is George. I've always been partial to him. And as for the argument over John and Paul, I think it comes down to whether you prefer amazingly written pop songs or more "experimental" songs. It's hard to compare since their strengths lie in two very different places.
