that still means they just about doubled their sales in that other 66%. I'm surprised they got above 60,000 judging by the early numbers.

Not a bad first week. If they get a "MTV/TRL" boost like Fall Out Boy did, they could probably hold that number for many weeks much like Fall Out Boy did around 45-60K.

congrats to them...i wasn't sure how the album would do, i haven't listened to the radio or watched mtv in ages so i don't know what kind of hype they're getting...but, after that other thread earlier i listened to the album again today and i must say that there are some damn good songs on there, and that acoustic walmart soundstage performance was awesome

Yeah.. cause' overall it's shit.. but then nestled deep in the shit are the REAL chocolate parts, which are the songs that don't suck total balls.

Ok I want someone to be honest. I liked Ocean Avenue. I'm not a rich man. Should I buy this cd? Is it worth buying? What do you all think?

If you are a fan of Yellowcard and can put aside the YC-Ben tension, I would say yes. Otherwise probably no. And I have a feeling 95% of the replies will be no.

ive never been a big yellowcard fan, and i didnt think ocean avenue was the greatest cd ever. but ive gotta say this cd isnt as bad as alot of people on this site say. just skip #7 and im sure it will be worth your money.

That's pretty good even though I'm not a fan anymore. I lost all respect for them after Ben left. But for the most part, congrats to them.

Ilike yellowcard and feel bad for Ben, but put that aside this album is really good. I like every track except for the first song lights and sound. Their are much better tracks they could have chosen to be the first single.

Interesting... I've only heard four songs off the CD (Rough Landing Holly, Lights and Sounds, Sure Thing Falling, How I Go). I liked all of them besides Lights and Sounds, which is fairly average. Personally I hope they release Rough Landing, Holly as their next single though. I'll probably end up buying the cd eventually.

I liked Ocean Avenue and I'm not a rich man but I bought this cd cause of the bands rep. It wasn't what anyone expected (a repeat of ocean avenue-style tunes), its more of a relaxed mood thoughout the CD, so once you get over the initial "This isn't the YC I Know" It's a good CD. I say buy it.

I dont think that 86K is really that great. Sure its a start, but considering an album generally has to sell 500K or more to start to recoup expenses (more depending on production costs, marketing costs, etc) Likewise, that is a pretty low number compared to what ocean ave set out to sell, and I only predict sales will drop after first week unless there is some kind of push from MTV, Radio, or the like. Also, #5 sounds good, but you have to consider variables that are surrounding this number on the charts. If this album was released at a busier time for CD sales, like fall/Christmas it wouldn't be as high on the charts. CD sales generally slump after Christmas and therefore, albums that sell 86K in a week can be #5

Everyone who is not buying this album simply for the fact that ben is no longer in the band should realise that he's still on the album and will still be seeing money from the sale of this thing. So if your that big a Ben supporter you should still go out and purchase the album and support him. Plus it's easily their best work since One for the Kids.

86k is a horrible first week number for a band who sold nearly 2 mill of their previous album.

There other CD didn't get any recognition until months after it was released...they are way ahead of themselves...what are you guys going by? You are probably one of those people who bought ocean avenue after they got big, but tell everyone on this site in the meantime that you knew about them from their very first CD. I hate people who do that.

i hope the people defending yellowcard by saying "ocean avenue didnt break until blah blah blah" realize you can't get discovered twice. i see the verizon commerical they are in about 10-15 times a day ...they've got plenty of word out about this record. a lot of people are probably just sick of them - and they lost a substantial amount of their old fanbase (who certainly purchased ocean avenue) for various reasons.

thats a pretty awesome opening week from what was expected -- i love the people that were going nuts when they saw the 15k sales though
and the person above me did hit the nail on the head in saying you can't get discovered twice -- the only thing is that i really didnt see much advertisement for this record at all so the sales could potentially end up doing pretty well

If this album was released at a busier time for CD sales, like fall/Christmas it wouldn't be as high on the charts. At the same rate though, if it was a busier time for CD sales, that would mean more CDs would be sold, including Yellowcard albums.

HITS' sales projections are rarely accurate. And the other 65% could amount to a lot. I say 80,000.
