If he is on the 50 yard line... he's gonna miss alot of plays.
Its good that stevens got in his head... Porter said he was focused on football, now hes on stevens. That will keep one of the Steelers biggest defensive threats occupied all day. Even if he knocked my ass out constantly, I'd keep talking, because Porter is too much of a hot head to stay focused.

have you ever watched joey porter play? this is what he thrives on. this is the kind of shit that makes him a beast on the field.
porter's focused just fine. and i don't feel the least bit sorry for stevens. he brought it on himself.

Its usually only big time players that say stuff.. Stevens is a nobody who wouldn't even factor. Now porter's gonna want at a tight end, when he should be worrying about bobby engram.

porter's gonna be lined up against stevens most of the game. and it's not like coverage is his number one priority most of the time. he has no concerns with bobby engram.

Meanwhile, this guy is almost a first-round bust who barely made some plays this year. He has the nerve to say what Jerome is not going to do when he isn't going to be the deciding factor whether that happens or not. I'm going to make sure he don't have anything to do with the outcome of the game. I would think someone would say something, but I wouldn't think it would be him -- he's too soft to say something like that.

hahahaa what an idiot. he caught 45 passes for 554 yards with 5 TDs this year. yeah, he barely made some plays. Ha. this guy really needs to re-look up the term "first round bust." Maybe he should watch some Ryan Leaf or Aliki Smith videos.

he was almost a bust? I didn't consider him that. He had a decent rookie season for being the #2 tight end that year. He caught 26 passes, in a west coast offense, behind Mili. After another year of being the understudy (I don't see how this is unusual for a 1st round pick, he split time with Mili last year before becoming a great player this year.
"seems like a seahawks fan would know that."
asshole.
The main point is that he said Stevens "barely" made some plays this year, which is funny considering he had a better year statistically than Miller.

oh my god he was a sleeping dragon right? First of all, it is physically impossible for Joey porter to injure Jerramy Stevens. All Joey Porter did was prove how much of a hot head he is. If he focuses on Jerramy Stevens we'll throw it to the 3 receivers that come before him. He's definitely not going to shut down the passing game. Joey Porter is nothing incredible and definitely no worries to the seahawks dominant offense. Sorry.

How many tight ends are taken in the first round? 1 maybe 2? If a tight end is worthy of a 1st round pick he should be starting. That's not to say he hasn't become a very good tight end because he has.
Comparing him to Miller is completely unrelated. Miller was pretty good in his first year. The Steelers primarily use their tight ends to block.

I wouldnt say he is statistically superior. He had 6 more catches, 50 more yards, but one less TD. They are pretty close.

TE's drafted in the first round since 2001:
Heath Miller
Kellen Winslow
Ben Watson
Dallas Clark
Jeremy Shockey
Daniel Graham
Jerramy Stevens
Todd Heap
I think you could say that Stevens has been the worst pick so far out of the guys that have played (stupid Winslow).

Miller's numbers were hurting when Ben missed some games and the o-line wasn't playing well. He had to do more blocking.

Not to mention, its his first year, and his more TDs on a lower-scoring offense, and blocking in a run heavy offense, probably have more impact.

Yeah I don't really agree with Porter's statement at all. He isn't a bust, but I don't think he's been lived up to his potential. He's not a bad player at all.
The only reason is because of ESPN, retarded Seahawks fans (there arent really any here, I know a few though), and now what Stevens just has said.

I agree with the latter part of that. I have to say what Porter said was out of line, instead of just saying "Well hes wrong because we are going to bring Jerome out on top!" ... he has to question the mans character and playing ability. He also insults him by callin him a bust and that hes "barely made any plays" this year..

Well I guess everyone imagines Hines Ward crying after they lost in the AFC championship and basically apologizing profusely that they couldnt win one for Bettis. (At this point everyone thought he was retiring).

And I just don't believe what the media conveys and what players say. There may be a FEW, but this is the NFL - it's stupid to think that at least 90% of the players are doing it for themselves, and even the ones that say they are doing it for Bettis are still doing it for themselves as well.

Dude I love Bettis, if he weren't playing against Seattle I'd love for him to get a ring, seriously. I just think this is totally over the top, and the media has portrayed this like the players are winning it for Bettis (Do you think Rothlesberger gives a fuck? How about the 1st year Pitt players, the rookies...) They want to build their own legacy (Especially a phenomenal player like Big Ben) before they are concerned with whether Bettis retires with a ring. Yes, it would be great for them to do it for him. But that is not the main concern. I do not see what is so hard to understand about this. It's a very simple concept. Bettis is this year's media darling, and they've made it out to be "win one for old jerome," and while it's a great story and a small amount of motivation, it's not why the Steeler players are going to show up to win.

I agree with scott on this one. Obviously they want to win it for the bus, but that is not their number one reason. They are not going to play any harder just because of him.If they aren't playing their hardest from the start or need this to motivate them then there is a big problem. They all want it for themselves first, getting one for bettis would be a huge plus for them

Do you think Rothlesberger gives a fuck?
no, he must not. if he did give a fuck he wouldn't have begged jerome to come back after last year's afc championship game. he wouldn't have personally put himself on the line and promised him that if he came back they'd get him to the superbowl.
i mean, i understand that your star player is in it more for himself and whines if he doesn't get his stats. maybe that's why this whole 'team giving a shit about each other' concept is a little hard to grasp for you.

ignorant stupid shit? if you are gonna stand by that comment, you need to start calling out the seahawks fans on here saying stupid shit. theyre infintessimley (sp?) worse than the steelers fans here, one guy said seattle was gonna shut down every facet of the steelers, and run up the score on them etc etc and you didnt say one word to him.

I see what you're saying. It probbaly is true for a lot of the players. But having a guy like Jerome on your side just gives you even more incentive to go out and win it. I truly believe Ben and Ward and a lot of other guys who have been around Bettis for a while really do want to win it for him. The Steelers are a lot more family oriented than most other NFL teams.
As far as everyone saying Porter to shut his mouth, they need to get used to it. He wasn't the one who came out and said these things. Its the way he is. He's a huge bigmouth and lately he's been able to back it up. I personally wouldn't mind seeing him and Carter gone next year. Harrison is probably better than Porter and god knows we have enough CBs ready to step in and start.

ben roethlisberger's first priority is to win a title for himself, not for Bettis. It's the same for everyone on the team. That's all I've been saying this whole time. Haha. I'm just saying if you've ever played on a team before (which you must have) you should know that being on a team and playing for the guys around you is just as rewarding for playing for yourself. You KNOW you don't want to let those seniors down in the state tournament in potentially their last game ever (a simple analogy). The same applies for Bettis exponentially. We're not saying the whole team is like this, but a lot of the guys have a lot of motivation for it.

if you look on ESPN.com, the poll question is "who will win super bowl XL?" And 61% chose pittsburgh while 39% chose seattle. That's a pretty big difference. Meanwhile, if you ask any one of those people if the game will be close they always say "oh yeah, it's going to be really close." Then if you turn your TV on to the best damn sports show period, you'll see every person say "ah man, I gots ta go with my steelers, what do you think snoop?" And then Jason Sehorn and Jay Glazer also picked the steelers, and 2 weeks ago they all picked the panthers over the seahawks. The only reason the media mentions seattle is because there's more than 1 team in the super bowl. What I can't begin to fathom is why people don't give the seahawks any credit. For one, shaun alexander got the rushing title, the league MVP, and broke the single season record for most touchdowns and all people can say is "he's soft, he's not a tough running back." The seahawks beat the redskins pretty easily without shaun and people say "the redskins were beat up." DeShaun Foster is injured going into the NFC championships and everyone keeps saying "The panthers can get it done without deshaun foster." We destroy them and everyone says its because they didn't have deshaun foster.

That isnt actually true. THey beat Minnesota in 2004 and San Diego on the road after that Atlanta game.
so dont throw out incorrect stats like that
8-8 aren't winning teams.
ill throw out that Holmgren is 4-1 against Cowher
How many of them came without one of the best QB's ever, and the best DE ever on his team?
I'll throw out that those last two stats are ridiculous and have no bearing on sunday's game.
The first one definitely does unless you just don't understand football. Seattle is a team that thrives on their HFA more than anyone maybe. They love that "12th man" shit. They're not a good road team, especially when it's a quality opponent. The Steelers have been the best road team in the league the last two years. And this will be the closest a team has had with HFA in a SB, so Seattle will not have much of a crowd there for them.

if you look on ESPN.com, the poll question is "who will win super bowl XL?" And 61% chose pittsburgh while 39% chose seattle. That's a pretty big difference. Meanwhile, if you ask any one of those people if the game will be close they always say "oh yeah, it's going to be really close." Then if you turn your TV on to the best damn sports show period, you'll see every person say "ah man, I gots ta go with my steelers, what do you think snoop?" Stop complaining so much. Who cares who picks who. I'd prefer to be the underdog. Snoop dog is a steeler fan. I've never seen anyone take other people's opinion so hard. Grow a pair.

espn experts. 15 picked the steelers, 9 picked the seahawks. thats nothing to be upset about considering even less picked the steelers to beat the colts or bengals.
and just one question. out of the 150,000 or so that voted on that poll, 65% picked the steelers. does that make 97,000 people that dont know as much about football as you? they obviously see some reason to pick the steelers to win.

oh. well in that case why is seattle showing up at all? they should cancel the superbowl then and just give it to pittsburgh.

im tired of this whole "seahawks get no respect" angle. the seahawks were picked and favored by a ton of people/experts to make it to the super bowl all year long. in fact, somebody back me up with the facts, i dont have time to check them, but havent the seahawks been favored to win every game they've played up until this one? they have 7 players picked to the pro-bowl (i think it was 7, i didnt double-check)and basicly all the polls ive seen are showing about 45 percent picking the seahawks. that isnt a lack of respect. i dont know where you're coming off with this.
There were only 4 or 5 ESPN analysts out of about 30 that picked Seattle in this game. On Page 2 on ESPN they showed the celebrity picks, and it was just ridiculous, bandwagon central for the Steelers. I'm not just saying that, their reasoning was stuff like "Bettis is coming home he will win!" or "Nobody can stop Bettis!" or such. It's still a lack of respect from the media...less so from the fans.

On ESPN.com, they had 24 pick. 15 Pittsburgh, 9 Seattle. That isnt a huge disparity. Also, on ESPNews this morning Trey Wingo, Golic, and Schlereth all picked Seattle and made it pretty clear that they just had more talent than Pittsburgh.
I don't buy the lack of respect ...the media just has more stories from Pittsburgh so they are getting a chunk of the coverage.
Either way, I'm sick and tired of hearing about this game haha. Just play the damn thing already.

thats not true he actually changed his pick to the seahawks like he always does midweek. He is shitty, he did this with the Bears/Panthers, Colts/Steelers and Broncos/Patriots game.

News to me. Even if it's 15 to 9, that is a pretty solid chunk of votes towards Pittsburgh. I'm just ready to play the game too.

yes gentlemen, tomorrow at 3:30 pm PT the game that I've been awaiting all of my life will finally arrive. I know everyone's expecting a close game, but I'm actually rooting for a complete blowout, and I would like to see Joey Porter get a concussion. Other than that, looking forward to it and glad I could debate about it with you guys. GO SEAHAWKS!!!!!!!!! (knock on wood)

I was watching the best damn sports show and I realized that this steelers bandwagon is bigger than any bandwagon in sports history. Did any of these people that predict the steelers to win the super bowl even care about them up until they beat the colts? Fuck no. Snoop Dogg claims to be a steelers fan. It makes me sick that there's so many soul-less retards.
since the wild card game ive been saying it would be a seattle-pittsburgh super bowl.

if you actually want a blowout then you need to quit watching sports. blowouts arent fun to watch, at all. and ive been waiting for this game for weeks now and if its a blowout (no matter who gets blown out) ill be pissed. i want a down to the wire-field goal as time expires-kind of game (preferably with pitt. winning)

I can't help but get a 98 Falcons vibe with Seattle. Hopefully the result is the same, without the lame white guy returning a kickoff for a TD late. I bet Tim Dwight is a wigger

If he is on the 50 yard line... he's gonna miss alot of plays.
Its good that stevens got in his head... Porter said he was focused on football, now hes on stevens. That will keep one of the Steelers biggest defensive threats occupied all day. Even if he knocked my ass out constantly, I'd keep talking, because Porter is too much of a hot head to stay focused.
hahahaha you've clearly never seen the man play, you're an idiot and your opinion is invalid

I don't think Seattle has to win to gain respect. I think if they go out there and give the Steelers a run for their money (and avoid being shut down like Indy and Denver) it should open some eyes.

agree with the winner and the margin of victory ...but i'm going Seattle, 24-20. Matt Hasselbeck replaces Doug Flutie as the pride of BC for a day and takes home MVP w/ 250+ and 2 td's.
