the Amityville horror remake scared the crap out of me. Then again, I was alone in my dark room at like midnight watching it.

I think you're better off going the foreign route if you want actually scary stuff, and in that case, I think you should talk to Dan (IAmNietchze [sp?]).

Ya, but gore isn't always scary. I might check out Audition.

The Ju-On and Ringu series (Japanese only) are scary as hell. Shimizu is amazing.

That's what I was thinking after I said that.

I haven't seen a movie that really scared me in forever. I think I'm just desensitised. I'm more for the cheese b-horror flicks anyways.

Personally I can't watch The Sixth Sense...I don't know what it is about it, but that movie scares the shit out of me.

I rented that over Christmas break after seeing a clip of it on some countdown. Its pretty much only worth it for the last half hour or so; otherwise, I found it pretty slow. I thought it was going to be much better. If you just like cinema in general then you'll probably like it. But if it's just the scare factor, get something else.

The pacing was purposely slow to have a bigger effect on the audience when everything kicks in the last 15-20 minutes. The first time I saw the movie, I thought it was pretty good. Then, I watched it again and liked it a lot better.

I've noticed that also. The only "scary" movie worth mentioning was Saw, but it wasen't scary, but very disturbing.

Ditto. I thought that movie was alright, but the plot had so much more potential.

I feel like I'm the only person on Earth that was not the least bit scared by The Exorcist. I actually thought it was kind of lame.

Naw, I'm with you there. In fact, it made me laugh (backwards down the stairs scene) quite a bit.

But ugh, none of the movies posted here scared me in the least. An exception was The Ring when I saw it for the first time. I was fried and it was like a midnight showing. It creeped me out a bit. Other than that, I'm gonna need me some good recommendations that will have me contemplating sleep for days plz.

if youre into asian movies check out a tale of two sisters. i like that the best out of what i've seen. and the person who said the american ring is better is completely right. ringu was terrible.

Check out the CHANGELING. Probably the best “ghost” movie I’ve ever seen. It’s not scary in a gore feast or violence sort of way.......but the tension it builds gets me every time I watch it..

Ringu isn't terrible it’s just limited by its tiny (even for a J-horror) budget which made it come off comical in appearance.

And i've got to disagree with you on Tale of Two Sisters....that was just horrible. Check out Yee do hung gaan (inner senses) or Gin gwai (the eye) if you want to see good asian horror.
