View Full Version : New Acceptance Album In Summer

According to an update posted on Acceptance (http://www.acceptancerock.com/journals.html)'s website, their next album should be released before the end of summer.
As you may know, we have begun our first fun family road trip for 06--the Truckstops and Statelines Tour, with our friends The Academy Is, Panic! At The Disco and Hellogoodbye. In fact I am writing this message, wrapped in a blanket staring out the window of our RV @ the frozen tundra that some people call Wisconsin, en route to the first show in Grand Rapids, MI. We are pretty excited in the pants for this tour--so excited in fact that we decided to get a head start on all the other bands by crossing 9 statelines and hitting up at least 20 truckstops before the tour even starts. Acceptance: 1 Other bands: 0.

In other news, this past holiday season while people were opening presents, roasting chestnuts and toasting in the new year, acceptance was slaving away in the dark dungeons of recording studios across the sun-starved city of Seattle. We were given no access to food water or toilet, we did not sleep, and then we all died. Why you ask? Because here at Acceptance Inc., we pride ourselves on delivering quality song products and we don’t want you to have to wait two years for our next record. If our master plan goes as masterfully planned, you will have our new record on your corporate-compatible digital music player before the end of Summer.

If you can still find a ticket to any of these shows you should put down this internet connection immediately and go get one. Most shows are already sold out.
Christian

Unfortunately, this makes it sound like they are cutting their losses with "Phantoms." Anyone know if they are contractually obligated to Columbia for another record?

Would be a damn shame if they drop a new record before "Take Cover" ever sees the light of day as a single...

Acceptance didn't even play last night in Grand Rapids, MI. Jason was sick. The whole band was there at their merch table except that Jason was resting in their RV. It made me sad. I was looking forward to seeing them. Hopefully they play at the venue you're going to.

On a random note, the guys from the Plain White T's showed up to hang out at the show in GR, MI last night.

Lets just hope this one gets more press and push than Phantoms. General consensus that was a bad deal. Im actually not even going to this tour. Meh. Cant wait to hear the new stuff. I didnt even know they were working on a new album.

Acceptance is incredible.

Some don't know this, but, their drummer can shred on guitar like nobody's business. He is one of my guitar heros ha. The guy used to play in a little pop punk band called Hangnail, and i can always remember him standing out to me as an incredible guitar player.

2005 LP then a 2006 LP. Solid, especially since the 2005 LP was a quality album with no filler tracks.

So true.

I would in no way consider what Columbia did(n't) do for Acceptance a push. A lethargic nudge maybe...but definitely not a push.

When I talked to Jason back in December, he said the new stuff would be out by (around) May. Hmm...On another note, I wonder what they'll do about keyboards for this tour. When I saw them a few months back, that was a pretty big aspect of their show. It really added a lot. I guess I'll have to wait and see in Des Moines...

im assuming that the temp bass player will be playing bass/and keys...prob keys for songs like "take cover" and different, then coming in on bass. i know alot of bands do this. they prob wont be playing keys like they did in their last tour.

i will personally rip columbias balls off if they even think about dropping Acceptance, they should blame themselves for the lack of promotions.

it sucks to think that columbia even cancelled their video for "so contagious"

and about hangnail. nick is a straight up SHREDDER. im assuming he contributed alot to the "phantoms" record.

So, Columbia's giving them another record? Good to hear, most big labels would have dropped them after their album didn't do as well as expected. One of my most anticipated now that I know there will be something new.

i dont see that at all, im sure they are locked in for their career record wise...unless of course...columbia "lets go" of them but columbia isnt that clueless, they signed acceptance easily because of how visually and sonically marketable the band is. I honestly think they realize Phantoms was an amazing album and "fuck it leaked and that sucks" so.... lets make another amazing album and lets release it right this time and show the world who acceptance really is which....everybody say it with me...is an amazing fuckin band.

honestly, and i don't want anyone to take this the wrong way, but i hope Acceptance gets dropped from Columbia. i don't mean that in a mean way, but i would LOVE to see them pull what happened to Sugarcult. as far as i know, Sugarcult was no longer with their major label, and ended up signing to indie label Fearless, only to go on to sell a BUTTLOAD of records. i would just love to see Acceptance go back to Militia Group or something, and THEN sell 54564634563 trillion records like they deserve. i mean, if they do it on a major label, that's cool too, but i feel like the other situation would be great because it seriously seems like Columbia blew this bands chance big time. it was so simple, and they blew it. oh well. cannot wait to hear this new album. definitely in my top 5 most anticipated of 2006.

i have to say that i 100% agree with you on this! However from what I got, from the scoop, is that they were already working and planning a thing with columbia during the entire release with Militia. I would have loved for Militia to pick up acceptance, keep them there and just watch them explode that way. There is nothing wrong with signing to a major but you have to be dead fuckin ready, you have to know your roll and your manager has to be on the ball like a bitch. Its no joke up there. However, its obvious that indies are the new majors and thats amazing to see. The small guys watched the big guys kill eachother off, buy eachother out and now you have lables, whether you like them or not, from victory, drive thru, tooth and nail, and militia all selling hundreds of thousands of records and thats a great thing in my eyes because these people started their labels with the heart and passion for music, which is how it should always be started. Where they took that after the passion is not for me or you to judge but I started a label once when i was in growing up in Hawaii, and i had a zine with it, remember those "zines" yeah, i had one. I never signed bands, but i would take the records, take the money i made from dominoes pizza and i would press them, and release them in get them out at shows and i did it because hawaii had no way to get music out. I even had the pleasure of bring out some amazing bands, Countervail being one, they went off to become hometown hero, and then believe it or not, i flew out on my pizza income fucking Good Clean Fun!!! That was the fuckin day man and its when it was honest and sincere and pure. Lets hope we can preserve some of that. Ok im done, off to the bar.

perhaps. but we all know that sony isn't the best at building careers these days. and for all intents and purposes, the sales are not horrible for a first time full length. if sony lets acceptance do what they want and markets them the right way, then perhaps they will blow up.

problem is the record industry is 10% talent and 90% luck. if it weren't, then hawthorn heights never would have gotten out of ohio

I wasn't aware their last album had leaked months in advance, since I pay more attention to when albums are actually released as opposed to when I can steal them online.
