West:
Yao
Kobe
T-Mac
Duncan
Nash
East:
Shaq
LBJ
JO
Iverson
Wade
Obviously JO isn't gonna play, Ben Wallce will most likely take his starting spot. I think these are good lineups. Discuss.

Whats wrong with Yao, name one better true Center in the West. He is going to have a great second half this season.

Okur is just as deserving, but whatever. It's pretty even.

West will win, I can't wait to watch how stevie does with all those stars to pass to.
(I also laugh how Houston has 2 all-star starters and still manages to be one of the worst teams)

I hope Mehmet Okur gets a spot. Although not a true center, I think he should get in at C.

these all-star rosters are a great example of why fans really shouldn't be allowed to vote. as awful as it sounds, they really don't make the logical choices.
those that start the all-star game should be the best of the best at their positions, and when the fans vote with their hearts instead of their heads, you get things like yao ming (uh, how many games did he miss with injury?) starting at center in the west. the pistons are the best team in the league and there is nary a mention of them among the starting five. chauncey billups should be starting at pg and rasheed wallace should be given a spot at forward.
as a corollary, i agree that elton brand should be starting at forward in the west. the guy's having an mvp season and fans on autopilot just pick guys with shoe deals like tracy mcgrady. whatever.
also, i'm pretty convinced now that the writers are afraid to implicate the chinese people for voting for yao ming (excuse me, the leading vote-getter?!) online a million times and denying people like marcus camby (ok, he was injured, but he's still having a great season) the chance to start.

i laugh at every one of you idiots who says yao sucks. sure camby's had a good season this year. but he's been an underachiever his entire career, until this year. neither one deserved to start thisyear, because of injury...but yao is the best center in the west.
chauncey does lead a great pistons team, but his overall personal performance has been outshined by wade and iverson. i like all of these except yao, mainly because of injury.

yeah true...i really would have liked to see Brand start but it's pretty hard to get a starting spot over Duncan...oh well.

Is Pau Gasol a center? If he is, he should be starting instead of Yao.

he's elgible for the center position...but he's normally considered a forward. and i'd pick him or okur this year. even though okur's stats are a bit inflated.

If Gasol doesn't make the All Star team, that'll be bullshit, he is having a great year. I would take him over Yao any day.

Yao isn't tough enough, he may be better than Gasol, but I don't think he will be an elite NBA center.

and gasol will?
yao is already the best center in the west...he's elite in today's game...he may not be remembered as an all time elite center...but as of now, he should be treated as so.

I wasn't comparing Yao to Gasol anymore. I'm just sick of Yao always getting a fuckload of votes cause he's Chinese. If Shaq was still in the West, Yao would still probably start over him and it's bullshit. He's overrated, he's soft, he is just fortunate to play in the West where there are a lot of average centers.

i dont think he's overrated. no one's ever really proclaimed him as a great center. yes, it is because of the chinese that he's starting, and no i dont think he deserves to be there this year.
but, when he produces, you cant ask for much more out of him. he's always had a big scorer or two on his teams, francis, mobley, tmac. he does what a center needs to do. score when needed, grab rebounds and play defense.
couldnt as for more last season, 18 points, 8 boards, 2 blocks per while shooting 53% from the field.
