I love when they quote him:

"I don't see nothing happening."

double negative, nice. so that means he sees everything happening.

Haha, he always talks like that, it's annoying.

he's one cocky mofo:

"Maybe I'll get to a situation where somebody appreciates me," James told the Star. "I'm going to always be a ballplayer. You know I've got game. You can't knock what I do.

"I'm a running back like Walter Payton, somebody who played a long time. I'm in that mold ... guys who played 12, 13 years and always were consistent."

Like Jerome Bettis? hahahaha

But Miami has two decent backs already. Ricky Williams and their rookie dude, I forget his name, Robbie Brown or something?

probably. he's a hometown guy and most of the guys from miami want to stay close to the U. he's built them a huge sports complex or something.

How's Minnesota's situation cap-wise? I could see him going there. If Curtis Martin retires, the Jets?

i forgot about that, but i did hear that denver was interested in ricky williams. so that would open a spot for edge, but he'd still be number 2 and i doubt he'd want that. and i doubt that miami will pay top dollar for a back they don't need.

who else could use a back? the jets or sf maybe?

Packers! Haha, Edge would never play there though.

ricky wont be around next season. he'll end up somewhere else. the broncos have inquired about him now.

Regardless, Miami won't need James since they've invested in Ronnie Brown.

Lamont Jordan has been a solid back for them. But with Al Davis, who knows. When you look at teams who have a need for RB, it could shake out like this ... Baltimore, Cleveland, Jacksonville, Tennesee, Dallas, Minnesota, San Fransisco, Arizona.Throw Seattle in there too if they lose Alexander (but if they dont pay him, I doubt they'd pay James). It's a bad time to be a FA at the RB position because it's a pretty loaded position in the NFL right now. A great QB could hit gold right now though if he went loose.

Dallas seems the likeliest spot to me because Parcells and Jones want to win now, and Julius Jones isnt exactly working out as well as they hoped. Baltimore, too, because Billick's ass is on the line and he needs an elite RB if he wants any chance of competing in a division as loaded as the AFC North. Lewis and Taylor are also FAs, too.

I can see the minnesota thing happening. Wilf is giving Childress free reign to pursue shaun alexander.. but I don't think we'll get him. So i think james is a good fit. Word up here is culpepper is outy so we will see how that effects stuff..

on that note let me say good riddance. We gave him 8,000,000 dollars extra this year, because Wilf wanted to show some gratitude to the quarterback. What does he do, plays like shit and gets hurt. Now he is demanding a 6,000,000 roster bonus without the vikes being able to test his knee. And he is trying to restructure his contract for MORE money. What a cock. I hope his knee never heals and he is out of the NFL for good.

SF and Arizona might get in on the bidding if they are willing to start spending money to get better, but who knows. i'd like to see him in SF because i would like to see SF be a good team again, but with Smith as QB they probably aren't going anywhere. then again, all the more reason to have a solid running back.

the more i think about it though i think the jets might try and pick him up.

Word is Denny Green is trying to lure culpepper over to AZ if he doesn't get his 6 mil bonus this year.

they've got westbrook though, so would they spend the money on another RB or actually get some youth on defense and some WR for McNabb?

if i had to take a guess right now where he'd end up, i'd say baltimore. their passing situation is shaky so that team needs to run the ball. he knows he'd step right in and have the franchise on his back. plus, it was only a few seasons ago that jamal lewis ran for 2,000 yards behind that line.

cleveland and san francisco are too bad i don't think he'd even consider it. arizona has the best young receiving duo in the league, so he may fear the offense would turn into indy all over again.

i think if minnesota loses out on alexander, they'll go after jamal lewis. he'd be a great fit there though.

tennessee would be cool. i could see that working out well. never thought of dallas. i don't know the legistics of that working, but that'd be interesting to see.

the beauty of the nfl is how easy teams can make room for a big contract but, if mangini follows the teachings of bellichick he won't blow all his cash on one free agent.

yeah if you just looked at needs, i think people would consider NE a contender. However, there is no shot of Bellichek signing a guy with questionable character and a huge pricetag. Judging by Mangini so far, I don't think he'd follow that philosophy. It's been widely reported that he left despite the organization's advice, Bellichek specifically.

With that said, I agree with the guy who said the Jet's dont have the money for him. They are wrapped up in a few big contracts, that even if they rid themselves of, they'll have to spread the money out to plug all the holes that have surfaced. I have no inside information or anything, but I think Baltimore or Dallas will be where he ends up.

yeah but they just gave westbrook a big contract, plus he's younger. they also didn't use him enough in the running game, they threw the ball way too much.

there has been talk of moving westbrook to a scatback or slot wr. similar to a randle el.

Edge wants a warm climate, so Arizona would be great for him. They need to get that running game going.

I see Edge going to Arizona. That team really needs a running game. They already have the best WR combo in the league (IMO) and they're so young too.

Watch out for Arizona if they get a running game and a better offensive line.

That's the only reason I could see a high profile back like Edge going there. And think about that trio - Plummer, Owens, and Edge.
