View Full Version : Unusual Amount Of Reunions From DTR era Bands

Does anyone else feel like the bands from that era are starting to miss how it used to be? You see bands like Cobra Starship and Jack's Mannequin, I am The Avalance, and Ace Enders busting out songs from their former bands on a pretty nightly basis. Even Joe from Hidden In Plain View keeps posting bsides and rarities to their myspace page. I'm not sure if this signals a resurgence of reunion shows/tours but I think there is something going around. Think of all the bands that we listened to when we were like 15. How many have broken up only to come back now.
Bands That Have Reunited
Blink 182
Matchbook Romance
Lucky Boys Confusion
Glassjaw
Rufio
Finch
Bands That We Can Probably Expect a Reunion From Within A Year
Midtown
Something Corporate
The Early November
More Unlikely But Still Might Happen Bands To Expect a Reunion From
Hidden In Plain View
The Movielife
Bands That Will Probably Never Reunite So Give Up The Ghost
At The Drive In
What does everyone think? I'm sure I missed a few, so feel free to add some.

SoCo aren't going to reunite within a year, unless it's a one-off. Jack's has too much momentum going for that to make any sense right now.

Wasn't there a news post about At the Drive-In that was leaning in favor of a reunion?

Wasn't there a news post about At the Drive-In that was leaning in favor of a reunion? Yeah, but then a news post followed that with one of the members saying that it wouldn't happen if hell froze over.

Ah, well then nevermind.

Anyone else hitting up the LFO reunion tour?

This, and the fact that it probably just won't happen. Andrew has said that he'd only do a SoCo reunion for the 10 year anniversary or if he's nostalgically driven.

Glassjaw's been reunited for a while, to the point where they shouldn't be included in this.
Why exactly did SoCo end? I've always wondered.

They're not "officially" over, actually. During the break between North and what was supposed to be their 3rd LP, Andrew recorded some songs he felt he couldn't do with SoCo. They eventually became Everything In Transit, and he got caught up in the whirlwind of success that album gave him.

I'm glad it happened. Jack's has always been favored to Something Corporate in my eyes.
I hope TSL gets back together in the near future. I want to see them live.

While I love EIT, Jack's doesn't hit me nearly as hard as SoCo.

I feel that, while both are piano-oriented bands, Jack's is more so, and that's what does it for me. I love both bands, and SoCo has a few songs that are untouchable, but overall I'm a bigger Jack's fan.

For me, I just can't listen to TGP. Huge disappointment for me.

It just did not live up to par. Don't like the vocals or most of the tunes.

I honestly dont see a soco reunion ever happening. i mean, when andrew decides he's ready for a reunion who says brian, clutch etc are going to wanna drop whatever they are doing to go back? it would take a miracle.

Really? Has it finally been confirmed? With that "Biggest Cock Tease (Band Reuniting)" thread in the General Forum, I've been expecting this for a few months, but I never go in the General Forum anymore, so I don't know what became of that thread. If it's confirmed, then sweet.

Economy sucks + people in formerly popular bands need money = band reunion?
I mean, I'd love to think that half these bands got back together cause they missed making the music and the fans but come on.

There's not really a ton of money in band reunions, unless you're talking Blink-182.

Hahaha i'm going to take it a step further and say that labels are forcing bands back together to try to milk them for cash as well too.

Yea, replace Midtown with The Starting Line. Sorry, but there will most likely be NO Midtown reunion anytime soon.
Also, The Movielife won't be reuniting anytime soon.

I just looked at the General forum thread, that one was referring to FSF too. Sweet!

Ha, wow. That's like the exact opposite opinion that I had of it.
