The staff recommendations for this week are below; click "Read More" to view them all and make sure to keep an eye on this thread as other staff members will add their recs for this weekend. Post your recs in the replies!
Ryan: My recs can be read here (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?p=2556613#post255661 3).
Gabe: Great music found here (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?p=2556758#post255675 8). Go HAWKS!!
Tony: You can read my recs, along with Matt from Tamerlane Recordings, right here (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?p=2556828).
Scott: Go Seahawks!!! I recommend checking out this ripping punk band on Nitro called No Trigger. Their new album Cayoneer hits stores March 21st, and I can't get the advance out of my profile. I also heavily recommend The Lawrence Arms, whose new album is also excellent.
Greg: Allow me to show off my outrageously hip taste in music here (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?p=2557185#post255718 5).
Rick: Latterman and Sigur Ros. I don't care if everyone already knows about both bands, they've owned my rotation this week.
Jonathan: Sherwood! I just discovered these guys (I know, I know, I'm a late bloomer!) I love their full-length "Sing, But Keep Going." So far my favorite discovery of 2006. Also, the new Saves The Day record is amazing. Yes, it really is worth all the hype going around.

slowreader - this was a side project for two of the members in the impossibles, and it sounds like elliott smith. i cannot even begin to tell you how good they are.
animal collective - i actually just started listening to them after hearing all about them. why? i have no idea. but i like it.
i am a bolt of lightning - listen to "all state make out champ." it's good.
the like young - i think they just got signed to polyvinyl records.
richard buckner - haven't heard much of him, but "blue and wonder" is an amazing song.

Tilly and The Wall - They use tapdancing for percussion. And they're infectiously upbeat.
Watashi Wa - I wasnt expecitng much when I got Eager Seas but since they're on Tooth & Nail, I figured I'd still give it a chance, and by golly, I do enjoy alot of this record.
This Day Forward - In Response is one of those solid records I feel is often overlooked. An Amazon reviewer sets the mood of this record pretty well, stating, "Conceptual, illustrious dreamscapes of love, hate, regret and fear cocooned in scream soaked deliveries, and racy mood fluctuations." Though the band is now defunct, a couple of the members continued their musical endeavors into another band I love, Circa Survive.
The American Analog Set - Set Free is one of the chillest records I own. It's perfect for a nostalgic mid-afternoon pause.
Misery Signals - So sexy even Fall Out Boy loves them (I swear, FOB's drummer is always wearing a Misery Signals shirt everytime I see them on TV or live). Anywho, Of Malice and The Magnum Heart is another record I feel isn't heard from enough. Pretty frantic metal-core with the occasional meltdown.

MC Lars: Just for fun.
Mute Math: When I play it in the showers, everyone loves it.
The Format: They never get old.

The Lawrence Arms - Oh! Calcutta!
Portugal. The Man - Waiter: You Vultures!.

Portugal. The Man - Waiter: You Vultures // Sweet mix of Blood Brothers (minus the screaming), Mars Volta and a pinch of Gatsbys American Dream. I was shocked by how much I liked this record because I was about to write them off as the next incarnation of Anatomy Of A Ghost.
Forgive Durden - Get ready for this band to take over your stereo... Huge in '06
Bright Eyes - Motion Sickness // Great set list. Perfect execution.
Like Lions // This is another band I can't stop listening too. Their newest demos are flawless and I can't put my finger on what it reminds me off. This is another band that I see big things for in '06.
I'm from Chicago but LET'S GO SEAHAWKS!!!!!!!!!

1. Great pop-punk: Run Kid Run, debut album out in stores summer 2006.
2. Great screamo - Benton Falls. They broke up a while ago, but Guilt Beats Hate is an awesome record.
3. Chill emo/indie - Check out Discover America and Damien Rice.
Hope that helps!

Rooting for the Seahawks, drinking from my big keg of Rockford Island IPA, eating tons of pizza (From Papa Murphy's is a must, but wherever you are, get your local HUGE pizza deal, as in the 26 inch pizza we're getting), and for music, Portugal the Man, Sonata Arctica and Michael Jackson. Will someone do my homework for me also?

i've been listening to:
Mates of State
Bright Eyes (Lifted)
Men Women and Children
and for some recs for unsigned bands (all on purevolume):
Farewell Flight ...these guys have something and i like it. i've had some friends listen to them and they've said they see a resemblance in Death Cab, and for me I see a tiny hint of Brand New (in YFW vocals).
The Maple State ...Rohan has posted a few things on these guys before, but I think people should give them more listens. They are from the UK, have recorded some songs with Sean O'Keefe (Fall Out Boy) and are managed by a guy in Motion City Soundtrack. see them going somewhere? I sure do.
last but not least... Brighten. these guys are headed in the right direction. listen and see what the hype's about, then check them out on tour with Eisley.
