i know some people on here don't like him, in fact some people completely hate him and think he's the worst president we've ever had... that's great everybody should have an opinion, but this thread is for facts only, not name-calling, so please post up some facts for and against president bush and why or why not he's a terrible leader

this what I posted in a different post but here it is:
Bush has done nothing to keep the economy from going to shit. Remember last summer he said in a speech that there is a grey area in economics! As soon as he made that rediculous speech stocks plumeted. I don't know if you recall that in early February his Tax Cut plan was attacked by 10 NOBEL prize winning economists! And here's something else that you might remember or may have chosen to forget, while he was visiting Japan, he said the Yen was subject to 'Devaluation'. Haha, well the stock market nearly crashed but luckily one of his officials explained that he meant 'deflation of the Yen.' I'm not saying that the economy is bad because of him, I'm just saying it has gotten worse because of him.

If Bush paid attention in English class somewhere along the line, I'd be much happier with him. It just seems hes not good with words..

Fact:Bush dodged military service during Viet Nam and now wants to send 250,000 men and women to war, possibly to their deaths
Fact:Bush cut off the supply of inexpencive generic aids fighting drugs to Africa so That the big drug companies can sell their expencive specalized drugs. The only problem is that average african suffuring from aids has no way of affording them.
Fact:Bush has never left US soil prior to becoming president
Fact:When asked during the election, Bush didn't know the name of the prim minster of canada. He thought it was Jean Poutine.
Fact:As governor of texas, he executed more criminals then any other governor EVER.

1. Clinton did the same thing, and no one protested his actions (although im not sure if you personally did) in haiti, iraq, and bosnia.
2. No company is going to invest in development of new drugs if that cant profit from it, thats just part of life and life isn't always fair. A question here might be "why do African leaders continue to keep there people so poor?"
3. Thats a good comment, but it doesn't really help your governing ability to leave the country. And im sure hes been to Mexico before he became president..................oh maybe that was just southern texas (HAHA).
4. I know you'll hate to hear this but canada is not a "world power," and although i think he should have known this, its not extremely important knowledge, and im not just knocking on Canada its just not that important.............tell me the Prime minister of Austraila (sorry spelling) without looking, there of equal importance.
5. CAPITAL PUNISHMENT is legal in Texas and there nothing wrong with executing them, its not immoral or inhuman, its what the people of Texas want.
Now im against CP, but i see nothing wrong with bush doing what the jury's of texas asked him to.

Fact: Haven't heard this- but i could believe it perhaps
Fact: Did you see his State of Union speech? he said he'd send Africa aids drugs in the form of AID. What's Aid mean to you? Selling it to Africa for a price?
Fact: He went to Mexico... but even if he didn't- whats so horrible about that- i am sure the percentage of Americans who have never left US soil (as in like 80% - thou i dont know) far exceeds that of those who have.
Fact: Urban Myth- Proof of that would be lovely.
Fact: Thats because there were more criminals, and the govenor before him did executions as well... guess what? The new Texas govenor also let executions go on. And besides- you make it sound like HE murdered them and killed them...
Bush is not a bad president, he's been EXTREMELY pressed and has had to make very important and difficult choices. I totally respect that man.
However- Colin Powell would be my Presidential pick

Colin Powell wouldn't be bad at all... but BUSH IS THE WORST PRESIDENT of our lifetime, seriously. His father wasn't that great but he was MUCH better than Jr. Did you read what I posted up there? Never has a US president been such a joke to the world. I respect him in that he is passionate but I don't respect him as a president in the least bit. I have ZERO confidence in him. I have confidence in some of his cabnet though. You can blame the Clinton Administration for the state of the economy all you want but you have to remember it was horrible when his father was in office and now it's horrible with him in office. I would hope that even right wingers will agree that he's a pretty shitty president.

isn't it funny that the crime rate in texas is lower because of the death penalty... that is a GOOD thing not a BAD thing, who wants to do crimes if they know they're gonna die for em...

I don't agree with everything President Bush has done. But President Bush isn't going to please everyone. He understands this and is doing what he thinks is best for our country. No one can find fault in that. The man is doing the best anyone can ask for. No one should say, "He's not my president," because the fact remains he is, like it or not and because of this he deserves only the upmost respect. No, you don't have to agree with him or what he's doing, but it's important to remember he is your leader nontheless. And it could be worse, Saddam could be president.

The death penalty doesn't lower crime rate:
(the following below is taken from http://www.ncadp.org/)
The death penalty is not a deterrent.
Governments that have enacted the death penalty continue to have higher civilian murder rates than those that do not.
The five countries with the highest homicide rates that do not impose the death penalty average 21.6 murders per every 100,000 people, whereas the five countries with the highest homicide rate that do impose the death penalty average 41.6 murders every 100,000 people.
The average murder rate per 100,000 people in U.S. states with capital punishment is about 8, while it is only 4.4 in abolitionist states.
Law enforcement officials agree that the death penalty is not an effective crime-fighting tool.
Sixty seven (67) percent of all law enforcement officers do not feel capital punishment decreases the rate of homicides.
Only 3% of police officers see the imposition of the death penalty as one of the most useful weapons in their fight against cime.
82% of the nations law enforcement officials believe that criminals do not think about possible punishments when they commit a crime.
Higher execution rates may actually result in an increase in violent crime.
In California, between 1952 and 1967 there was an average of one execution every two months. From 1968 until 1991 there were no executions. The homicide rate of California was twice as high in the earlier period than it was in the latter.
In New York, between 1907 and 1964, 692 executions were carried out. On average, over this 57 year period, one or more executions in a given month added a net increase of two homicides to the total committed in the next month.
