yes, but they agree that in return for that education they might be called upon to fight. it isn't a free ride, you know what you are getting into and for compensation, you are given money for an education (not to mention, the better the education, the better the soldier).

there haven't been any american casualties yet, in fact i don't think there have even been any "skirmishes" on the ground, so in other words you're wrong. you can't have peace through peace, that doesn't exist, there must be peace through conflict, it's a necessary evil, that's the way it is sorry... i think most of you are forgetting that WE ARE A COUNTRY BECAUSE OF WAR, WE WOULDN'T BE THE UNITED STATES WITHOUT THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR, SO STOP KNOCKING WAR ITS NECESSARY

financial aid, scholarships, there is other ways around the military, and they all know what they are getting into
