Its always good news to see a new all ages venue open, but ive seen quite a few open and close here in san diego.

stole the words right from my mouth.

happy for the kids in this area, hope some awesome shows come through there, and they all enjoy it. a new venue opening is always an exciting thing.

I feel really good about this place. All 3 owners of the place are all big music supporters, and there are no residential neighbors by the place to complain about noise, and there buttloads of (free) parking. 2 out of the 3 owners are musicians themselves!

yes monmouth or ocean county definitely needs their own venue..Im tired of having to travel at least an hour when Im home up to Starland when if we lived up near New York I could go 20 minutes to a bunch of venues.

monmouth county has the stone pony, most of the shows of interest there are all ages.

Its small, shitty, and run down. Sure Saves the Day is playing there April 1st but its really small and crummy. The fact is we need a place the size of Starland that can attract bands. No one even plays the Convention Center anymore. Krome wasn't that bad a drive but its gone now.

New Jersey needs more mid-size venues like Krome was. Places like the Bloomfield Ave Cafe and the local VFW halls aren't cutting it. The sound is no good and places like BAC have no parking on Friday or Saturday nights. They need a hall strictly for shows, no teen nights, no hip hop clubs(which was the final nail in the coffin for Krome after that kid got shot). A nice venue like that would be awesome for Jersey shows.

they don't do teen nights at this place, and its bigger than bloomfield ave, and the sound will be good.

for those who live in the central new jersey area like middlesex county, a hall at the 4H camp in east brunswick (cranbury road) is allowing shows to be put on there.

agreed. the pony was one of my fav's in NJ. it doesn't get the big shows like starland, but some really cool shows happen there. that place beats the hell out of CBGB's in NY.

krome wasn't that great either. but maybe im biased. one time i parked on this fat steelers fan's lawn (because that part of sayreville is against curbs) and when i got back after the show, he said to me, "they were going to write you a ticket, but i wanted to deal with you myself." i've never got an old grand prix to move more quickly in my life.

we do have some great places for shows, but you have to miss birch hill and krome.

luckily starland is really nice, but places like bloomfield and hamilton are weak.

I also vote for a Monmouth County venue there is a huge gap left when krome and birch hill closed.

I'm pretty excited for this. It's only a bit over half an hour's drive from me. And all this talk about Krome makes me sad. I miss that place like hell.

birch hill was the best venue in nj. the pony doesnt get that many big shows because it costs alot to rent it out.
