For how much people complained about how boring the Super Bowl was going to be (and actually was), a lot of people tuned it.

it's the Super Bowl. People who couldnt even tell you the nickname of Seattle and Pittsburgh tune in year after year because its just what you do these days in America. Ratings will always be exceptional for it.

That's because its been geared to those people all their lives. The Superbowl is going to find itself in trouble if they keep wheeling out the Rolling Stones, because they will never pick up on the younger audience.
But then again, 91 million people to watch two teams nobody thought would be in the superbowl, I guess it will survive no matter what.

"The estimated average of 90.7 million people -- or the estimated number of viewers throughout -- was the largest Super Bowl audience since the Steelers last played in the title game in 1996, a loss to Dallas that attracted an average of 94.1 million people watching. "
And you people laughed when I said the game would have huge ratings and there would be a ton of Steeler fans there.

i didn't expect it to have this many viewers, and i've already heard the second half wasn't nearly as viewed as the first. but regardless of viewers, this was a very bad super bowl on all counts.

What I think is th emost amusing is that the last benchmark was set in 1996 - which was the last time Pittsburgh played in the Super Bowl. Go figure. I dont think people realize how many Steeler fans there are in this country.

I think they do. The Steelers were the first dynasty and that put them on TV before the modern system. Every region didn't always get their games, it was the Steelers all the time, and in the Super Bowl. That's when they gained their fan base, and now those fans, and their children have been cheering for the Steelers ever since.

did i read correctly that this super bowl was the second most-watched event in TV history behind the finale of M.A.S.H?
