Jars of Clay is a Christian band that started in the 90s. Their self-titled album was excellent. Any other fans? If not, at least give them a try.

i know a bunch of you are gonna write them off cause of their beliefs, but you need to give long fall back to earth a chance... it's not preachy it all, and more important it's absolutely incredible.

Their self-titled is definitely better than the new one, but besides that, I agree.

their weakest imo is redemption songs- it has great moments but i don't think it really worked overall

I haven't listened to them in forever, but I was kind of into them about 10 years ago.

Well, it's a bunch of hymns, so that's to be expected. "I'll Fly Away" is one of my all-time favorite songs, though, so their version of it is awesome by default.

You should rediscover them. Some definite gems on the first CD, like "Flood" and (if you're into worshipful music) "Love Song for a Savior."

I only have their second CD (Much Afraid) but it's freakin' brilliant. Saw them live last year and it was pretty good too. I think they're the only band that I liked when I was 13 that I still like now.

If you like Much Afraid, you'd love the self-titled; most people agree that it's much better.
How good are they live now? I feel like I wouldn't like it as much, since they'd probably play most/all new songs, but I do enjoy The Long Fall Back to Earth, and I think they still play "Flood." If they played that and "Love Song for a Savior," I'd be happy.

They do still play Flood and Love Song For A Saviour - two incredible songs. And yeah, I love the self-titled too, I just don't own it. I know most people say it's better, but I'm one of the few who disagree. I think it's great, but that Much Afraid is a step up (Frail = win).
Oh, and I don't know which album Oh My God is off (I think it's more recent), but that song is incredible. I nearly cried when they played it live, and it was my first time hearing it - a bit girly, I know, but it's a great song.

Oh I know you're serious, which is why its funny. I always assumed you a better poster than just home lame troll response like "eff God".
I doubt I'll dig them, but I'd like to atleast give them a chance, I've have a few friends that enjoy them that usually rec good bands.

Sometimes I enjoy being so crass, it doesn't even seem possible. You'll hate them. Guaranteed.

that is exactly what I was about to say. Probably the only band I liked when I was like 9 that I still like now. There isn't much that they have done that I didn't love.

Much Afraid is a great album... Good Monsters was solid as well... I love the new one but its almost more 80's pop. By the way, the new Sleeping Giant album is great.

If you like good acoustic rock, definitely start out with the self-titled. There are so many good songs on there, like "Flood," "Love Song for a Savior," "Liquid," and "Art in Me."

Yeah, especially since every other cover on that CD was terrible. It made theirs seem so much better by comparison.

Michael Tait's cover of "One" and Todd Agnew's "When Love Comes to Town" were my favorites, and I thought Sixpence None the Richer did a good job with "Love is Blindness."
I like the song Closer.
I didn't like it on the EP, but after listening to the new album a few times, I do enjoy it quite a bit.

The only other band I felt did the original justice was Delirious - I think they covered "Pride (In the Name of Love)".
But some were a joke (see Grits rendition of "With or Without You").

Yeah, hypocrisy can get pretty annoying. It's sort of a pet peeve of mine, but I guess that's to be expected, with the sinful nature of man and all. :/

Or the ineffectiveness of mainstream church/religion. I think our sinful nature was accounted for when God laid down the game plan, maybe we're all just missing the point. ;)

Their latest album is the only album besides their self-titled that I really listen to.
"Love Song for a Savior" is great, though "Flood" will forever be my favorite song of theirs. My brother used to have a cassette tape with just that song and "Jesus Freak" that I used to hear on repeat all the time.
