View Full Version : Steve McNair in the Pro Bowl? Really?

He's replacing Plummer, and I just don't get it

You had your original 3, then it branched out from injuries

Manning
Palmer - Brees - Plummer - McNair
Brady - Green

How he got it makes no damn sense to me. His team sucked, and he had 16 TDs to 11 INTs in 14 games. The most obvious snub of this whole Pro Bowl is now Roethlisberger. I'd be willing to bet the guy with the third highest passer rating in the league hasn't been snubbed out of the PB in a long time. And he has more TDs and less INTs than McNair, yet are they actually saying he's the 8th best AFC QB this year? It's just ridiculous to me.

I guess if McNair's injured they'll be asking Gus Frerotte next.

I agreed with Plummer being included over Ben ..but this is crazy. McNair had nothing on him this year.

the only reason i can think of for Ben not being in is because he was injured. But its still ridiculous

It's more about getting the honor than going for the game. The number of Pro Bowls matter a lot for HOF voting.

in the long run though, that will be of lesser importance w/ a lot of stars backing out of the game for not much of a reason.

Big Ben just won the Super Bowl, I'm sure he doesn't give two fucks about the Pro Bowl, he is probably happy he finally has a week off.

A little thing called stats factor into hall of fame voting more than pro bowls. And lets face it, regardless of his passer rating if Ben had around the same type of year he had this year with his whole career (not including Super Bowl), he wouldnt make it.

So he can do more partying with ugly Pittsburgh girls WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Wow that's one dumb argument.

You actually just tried saying the highest rated QB in NFL history wouldn't be put in the HOF.

And supposedly Sirius NFL radio said Ben declined the PB

Uh... ok? So what? Players who have sub-par season still make the hall of fame (as recently evidenced by Warren Moon). I see Big Ben having a prosperous Hall of Fame career.

wow, it is way too early to be talking about him in the hall of fame.

Pro Bowl is based on three votes - fan, coaches, and players. I think NBA and MLB are all fan votes. Roethlisberger was third in fan voting.

highest in NFL history?! please. he's played two years. whoop dee do. he's going to have at least one bad year in the future.

You said he wouldn't make it if his career went the same as it did this year every year, which means he'd have a career rating of 98.3, the best ever (unless Peyton keeps going over 100 for the next 7 years). Add that with being the youngest QB to win a SB, and he'd be a HOF lock. It was a dumb argument you tried to make.

It's too early to talk seriously about HOF, but you could always debate about it. Put it this way, has any QB ever put himself in better HOF shape in his first two seasons than Roethlisberger? 27-4 record (best ever), youngest to win a SB, undefeated rookie in regular season, rookie record for passer rating and completion %. Only things missing from his resume are a league MVP, SB MVP, and Pro Bowl bid.
