Both great great acoustics, but I'm partial to Martins. I have a Fender Jaguar that I love as well. Really I just dig Fender guitars in general, especially the less common ones. I'm a big fan of Egnater amps.

you just cant beat the tonal versatility of a fender deluxe tele. im also incredibly partial to taylor acoustics of which ive played many different models numerous times but have yet to round up the money to own. les pauls are my favorite to play on stage though, i just feel like i can swing that thing around and thrash on the strings and it holds up to all the abuse and energy so well, haha.

I love SG's handsdown. Everytime I went to guitarcenter or samash, I'd always play a Gibson SG but I don't have enough to get one so I use a epiphone sg-400 which is still amazing. SG's have such a clean sound when it comes to playing electric. I also have a strat which is always amazing too.

I've sadly never played one, but from what I've heard they are amazing guitars. I'll have to look around at places to see if I can get my hands on one. Just wondering, is it a heavy or light guitar? I imagine it would be more the weight of an SG than a Les Paul, but I wouldn't know, I have no idea what kind of wood it's made out of.

I only played one once, sitting down, but I remember it being about "medium" weight. I guess a comparison to an SG would be similar, maybe a little lighter? I was playing a strat at the same time, and it was a bit heavier than that, and felt "solid".

i'm guessing you're just starting out on guitar? there really are massive quality-related differnces between the three teles you mentioned. the squier is the cheapest and shittiest and goes for around 200, the mexican is mid-priced and is a fairly decent guitar at 550 (which sucks cuase they went for 400 like a few months ago), and the american is expensive but it's a really nice guitar, and sells for around 1200. there are all kinds of different models, and the most expensive model is not always the best one; for example you may prefer a highway one telecaster to an american because of a distinctive sound and slightly different feel. however if you're choosing between models with THIS much of a price difference, generally the higher the price, the better the sound, playability, and wood quality/build. if you're just starting out, i wouldnt recommend going all out for the most expensive guitar because chances are at this point you might not be in tune with your instrument enough to tell the difference between them; if this is your first guitar i'd say take the squier, but if you've been playing for a year or two it might be more economical to take the mexican since as you get better you'll start to notice all the squier's flaws and want to replace it.

Depends on the year and model. Some MIJ Fenders are even better than some MIA fenders... and vice versa. Both have excellent materials and workmanship, though. You really just need to try it.

right. is there a discernible difference in tone/sound? for example, one having a bit less tinny/thin tone or something like that?

No, that would boil down to the materials/parts used and AFAIK everything is pretty damn close, except MIJ bodies are commonly made of basswood.

Honestly, I would buy MIJ for any used Fender. They are the same price new because of importation custom fees, but used MIJ are by far cheaper and of relatively similar (arguably higher) quality.

Regarding the Taylor electric...

I played all three models several times over a span of a few months. I clocked probably around 5 hours on each. I can't say any one of them really grabbed me. They felt nice, they sounded nice, they played...nice. But it just seemed too underwhelming for that price tag. And fuck, for that price, I better be getting nitro and a set neck.

Les Pauls are my shit. However, I would love to get a Tele (frankly, I don't give two shits if it's MIM or American). Of course being I'd do the same to it that i do with my les pauls and step it up a bit with some passive EMGs. I spent a ton of money on a brand new Gibson SG... it's always been my dream guitar. Since I've bought it though I've realized how amazing my Tom Delonge Fender strat is. Personally I think the tone I get from the Fender is much better than the SG. Playability wise though, the SG is easier to rip up.

i've been looking at a new guitar for quite some time, what do you guys think of a Epiphone sg's or epiphone les pauls?

Personally, I would just hold out a little while longer and get a Gibson. Epiphones are cheaper which is a definite bonus, but you get what you pay for. My advice: play the shit out of the guitar in the music store before you buy it!! Don't buy it based on looks.

^^ Agreed! And the '72 re-issue telecaster is sick.

It depends on what type of music you want to play.

For my distortion stuff, I love my Gibson LP studio. I didn't have the money to throw down for the Standard because I put all my money into my amp set up. I used to have a Fender Tele MIM that was really good too. I used to own a Fender Tom Delong Strat too before it was stolen that was a nice piece of hardware.

For my clean/bluesy stuff, I looooove my Fender Hardtail Strat MIA. Sounds amazing on my orange rockerverb 50 with the verb turned up.

Anybody play a G&L? I've heard great things about them.

G&L guitars are amazing. However if you can get your hands on one that is from before 1991, that's really worth the buy. That's when Leo Fender actually owned the company.

I love archtop style guitars. They just have such a vintage sound and feel to them. As for brand, it doesn't really matter. As soon as I have enough money I'll either buy a guitar or bass like that, since right now I'm stuck playing a beat up noname brand Stratocastor rip off and a cheapy Drive Wildfire bass.

For metal or shredding in general I love my Jackson SLSMG

for more chill and clean sounds I love a good Fender, preferably a Jazzmaster, Jaguar, or '52 Telecaster

That Telemaster was epic! My favorites are Fenders, mainly the jaguar. The necks are perfect. They're beautiful.
