Stay tuned for ticket exchange / refund information. Here's to a speedy recovery.

I went to this last night and even though I'm really not a fan of Yellowcard at all (I went to see Over It), I have to say, they put on a pretty good live show.

I have a feeling this (http://www.vmsdigital.com/download/020606/NLA150386_01.WMV) might be a good indication of why they had to cancel. Too bad :( I was stoked to see them, oh well.

who you SHOULD have gone for is Mae. THERE is a good live band.

I don't understand, I watched them on Leno last night and they seemed fine, a decent show. What did you see that I don't?

It's not horrible.. but I think he sounds like he's having slight vocal troubles.. I even told the person who sent me this that he still pulled it off well for a person who was having issues.

Where is the range on his voice, he goes nowhere near any high notes, maybe thats just the way the song sounds?
ClemTiger0408
02/08/06, 12:48 PM
If you ever see them live, he always does that. Its just easier to tell on like Leno and talk shows because the mixing is so perfect, at shows the vocals are often drowned out. But I watched them on that MTV $2 thing and he did the exact same thing. He pulls away from the mic when he has to sing the really high notes.

I don't know the best way to describe it so I'll do my best (and I'm sure someone will pop in and correct me, but I know it's coming so please do so..) As far as I know it's somewhat of a bump/inflamation on your vocal node(s) (located in your throat.. duh, yes I know.) It can be really, really bad if not treated ASAP.. Andrew McMahon had something very similar, except his was cancerous.. Acute Lymphatic Leukemia.

these guys look more and more unhappy everytime I see them. Where is the "energy". They look like they dont even know each other or something? It's a hard thing to describe.
But anyway, I have money that says this band breaks up after this album.

Right, because The Hives started it all, dipshit.
Maaaan, this is why I don't talk on the boards... I'm aware the Hives aren't the first, and I'm sure the beatles weren't either.
All I'm wondering is if this is the band's call or the label makes them dress like that.
I like how they wear matching outfits

I think you're making them out to be more corporate than they really are.. honestly, maybe it's just how they prefer to dress these days.. I can honestly say I've changed the way I dress just based on how I feel at the moment.. I think we all do it from time to time..

In no way did I mean to make them out to be corporate whores or anything to that degree, I just notice that when bands disappear for a while then come back to the public eye with a new record, not so much their image, but their wardrobe has changed. I noticed it with blink when TOYPAJ came out, they dropped all the hurley and dickies and opted for all black/gray; Green Day with American Idiot, Mest with Photographs... all I'm wondering is if this is something the entire band has come to agree on, or if it's a gimmick. It's just coincidental that all the members wear the same colors for TV/ Video appearances.

Honeslty, dude. These dudes are on national tv and they look miserable. You'd think being on Leno would be enough to make them smile once or twice. I'm definitely with you in anticipating a break up. Sucks but oh well. Sometimes businesses... errr... I mean bands, just fail.

I'm not completely disputing your argument.. but their profession is very stressful and strenuous.. they might have been tired, I probably would have been in their situation also after relentless touring and promotion of a record..

dude, go get a node on your vocal chord and then go try to sing and look happy...
you have no frame of reference and you are out of your fucking element. haha.
the only way to truly heal a node is to just NOT sing for several months until the node goes away. and obviously ryan isn't going to get that privledge. the only other option is to have laser surgery to remove the node, which is kind of like a quick fix...but there will always be scar tissue and your voice will always go downhill unless you give it the time it needs to completely heal and go away. the same thing happens with all these rock bands, cuz they don't respect their voices at all.
aerosmith is a classic example. but more recently: the used, yellowcard, story of the year, brand new, etc.etc.
that's why jessey was smart to go in and record their second album without a ton of crazy vocals, unlike ryan, bert, etc. who go all out in the studio and then have to duplicate that 365 days a year. it will take a toll on your voice and ruin it. a node is similar to a callous on your vocals chord(s) from them rubbing together violently over and over and over again (due to singing improperly). it's a completely different issue than andrew's leukemia (sp?). they are not related at all.

As far as I can tell, doc, Ryan is the singer in this band and Ryan is the one who has the vocal problem. I can completely understand why he would look uncomfortable, or unhappy. What is everyone elses excuse though? Does every other member in the band have a hand problem which is making them feel discomfort? Or are they just having sympathy pains? Probably both, right? I wasn't JUST talking about Ryan in my comment, and I also wasn't talking about JUST that apperance. The members of this band have looked miserable for months, in my opinion.

I know everyone likes to hate on them now but I went to the show last night and they put on a show much better than I expected. Lots of energy, everyone looked like they were enjoying themselves on stage. Their live performance won me over.
People are asking why they didn't seem happy. Its not a happy song, why would they be all smiley? Ocean Avenue is a happy little song with some bounce. Lights and Sounds isn't.

yeah, selling 40,000 records in a week is definitely a disaster...hahaha.
So for some odd reason i've been in love with yellowcard latley no joke. I've been listening to OFTK so much, the underdog EP and the ocasional Ocean Avenue for some songs and man i am kicking it, i have not touched lights and sounds since i first listned to it. In my opinion all the older stuff is still so good, and i'm still waiting for their 2nd major label record becuase in my eyes Lights and Sounds never happend, it was a terrible cd made by some band posing as yellowcard.

It would have been nice had they announced it a little earlier. Like last night or something.
Instead of after my friend and I had already gotten to the venue.
The manager at Slim's wasn't notified either, he didn't find out until he got there and went to set up the WillCall list.
Neither were the opening acts... Mae showed up as we were leaving and they were PISSED.
And as of right now, they don't think they'll be a makeup date.
