I like Sandler, so I'll probably see it. Hopefully it'll be funny.

Indeed...could still be funny though.

Good people are involved, so it could be funny. Hopefully they don't try to get all the laughs through homophobia or gay-bashing, but instead do smart things with it.

I agree. The good thing is though, Sandler has had gay content in his other movies and made it funny without bashing. Look at Big Daddy, two of his best friends were gay, but they were still able to make it funny without bashing it.

They worked too hard to avoid promoting homophobia, but they still crack all the same cliche' "gay" jokes....
Seriously, it's messed up when you try to make a film have a politically correct ending after you just been cracking "don't drop the soap" jokes for the past hour and a half.

The thing is though, from what I read at least, they were trying to be politically correct from the get go because they had some gay rights people or something read over the script and stuff to make sure it wouldn't offend anyone.
I don't really imagine the movie to be very funny either way though.

I think this movie had it's good and bad points. The bigining was just stupid, and completely un-realistic. However, it had a few laugh out loud moments, and a good lesson learned. So, it wasn't a complete failure as a movie. Hardly adam sandlers best work, but a cute movie nonetheless.

yeah..i saw one special and loved it. but i didn't want to base my assessment of his stand up on just that one special.
i think he just picks bad movie roles for some reason..or maybe he isn't meant for movies.

I mean if you are into Adam Sandler playing the same character as he always does, you'll love this..
I'm not into Sandler, I think this movie will be bland and uninteresting.

for real. I dunno why; it's a pretty standard network sitcom, so you'd think it would suck, but it's really funny, and I love it.

i saw an episode this week where doug is supposed to be going to overeaters anonymous and ends up in an abusive relationship support group. needless to say, hijinks did indeed ensue.
oh, and just avoid chuck and larry and see hairspray. i saw it three times this weekend. god i love that movie.
Speaking of Hairspray, the original was on TBS the other night and while I didn't finish it, I really enjoyed what I saw of it and need to rent it out so I can finish it (yes, TJ, I know you hated the original, haha).

I'm pretty sure I'd rather see 1 minute of Biel in underwear than 1 second of John Travolta.

i want to see this. while some sandlers characters are over the top (waterboy and the like)
I think he has a real sense of style in his overall character. The Wedding Singer is still one of my favorite films.

I have to agree with the last two posts. I didn't think it would be good, seeing as how it's been thrashed on Rotten Tomatoes, but I think it ended up being pretty decent if you just watch it and don't mentally cry about the homo jokes being paired with political correctness
Didn't like it all that much, but it had its funny moments.

I don't know how you can say that about a show that makes Everybody Loves Raymond look good.

That's pretty hard to do, actually.
I don't believe there's many things out there that are truly ass-tastic enough to make that piece of unfunny blandness look good.

i had low expectations going to see this and i came out pleasantly surprised. I thought the movie was hilarious and doesn't deserve a lot of the crap it is getting. There are a ton of recognizable people in the movie and if you want to laugh and don't worry too much about political correctness you should definitely see it.
adam sandler.
that is all.

i expected a typical forced comedy, and it pretty much was. It had back to back jokes though, which is a plus

It looks stupid. If want to see goofball comedies, I'll just trun on TNT or whatever. I wouldn't pay to see this.

I enjoyed it. I like both Adam Sandler and Kevin James a lot, so I might be bias. It had gay jokes, but it was more so you could see the main characters grow accepting of different lifestyles. Hardly offensive or exploiting, in my opinion. I really thought I would be laughing a lot more with the two main characters being who they are, but I didn't. It had a lot of heart in it as well, which is nice, but I want another goofball Sandler flick like Billy Madison.
I haven't seen this, but I don't need to to know that it's typical of Adam Sandler movies in that everyone expects it to be funny because Adam Sandler is in it, but it isn't. Terrible writing and terrible premises. Adam Sandler hasn't been funny since Happy Gilmore.
