Random Conflict - Escapism
Record Label: Glasstone Records
Release Date: November 11th 2008
When someone mentions metalcore coming from the UK, most people think of the band Architects or maybe even Azriel. Random Conflict also comes from the UK, with their own brand of metalcore, similar to bands such as The Eyes of a Traitor and Postmortem Promises. With their Glasstone Records debut, Escapism, they hope to take the music world by storm.
When I first came across this album, I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. However, after listening to it a couple of times, I realized this was really something to take note of, although it did take me a little while to get used to the vocalist's screams. With most metalcore, there's a mix of clean vocals and screams, but with Random Conflict there's really just screams. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Out of the 11 tracks on this disc, there's a few songs I really took notice of, those being "The World Is Full Of Skydivers", "It Took 08 Shots Plus", and "Escapism." Each stuck for the same basic reasons: the vocals and instruments flow together extremely well, leaving me to wonder what else Random Conflict had in store.
With six musicians working so well together, it's only a matter of time until more people become aware of Random Conflict and what they bring to the table. With Luke Bellamy and Lee Williams (vocals), Tommy Noble and Kevin Hingley (guitars), Tez Wu (bass), and Glen Homer (drums), it's really hard not to take notice of this band from the UK.
