Which recently hired coach will make the biggest impact on his new team?

So Art Shell did get hired?

I think it has to be Herm Edwards. You know what you get with him, and the rest of these guys are wild cards. Herm has a pretty good team, and he'll make the defense better.

Well I guess its good news for Steelers fans that they don't have to replace Wisenhunt.

I not too familiar or too impressed with many of those coaches with the exception of Herm. And I still don't understand how Sean Payton got a head coaching job.

only question I raise about Herm is that he already has a team thats predicted to do well, therefore is impact is likely to be minimal ..

He'll probably finish w/ the best record of the bunch, but I don't think he'll do the most with his talent. He'd have to win the division and make it to at least the divisional round, IMO, to make a real claim that he improved his team significantly. I had a hard time deciding between Linehan, Kubiak and Childress, personally. I like the hiring of Shell too ...there wasnt much left to choose from and they made the best out of a bad situation.

i think herm will have the best season. he has too many toys there. he walks into a good situation.

of the new guys though, i think linehan makes the biggest impact. doesn't he also have haslett on as defensive coordinator? either way, i think he'll be able to do things with the rams. especially in that division.

childress should be able to be alright, but there's something about him i'm wary about. not sure how he'll do.

on the opposite end though, i think marinelli will be awful. any success they have this year i think will be a result of martz. marinelli just seems like a douche. but at least now the detroit press knows how to tackle.

i'm going out on a limb with shell...because he's a line guy, and with time, kerry collins and that offence could be fucking phenomenal. and to the 7 people who picked an average coach to take an already playoff caliber team to the playoffs as the biggest impact...shame on you.

Herm will not have much of an impact because the foundation is set, but his team will do well. Actually I don't know. That 4th round pick they gave up for could prove very, very, very costly. (sarcasm)

i don't know though. i liked art shell the first time and thought he shouldn't have been fired. but it's been 10 years and he never got another coaching job. to me that says something. plus, 10 years is a long time. it'll take him a few years to get used to today's football i think.

and who knows if they'll even have collins next year.

i'm with you on the edwards thing ...that's the easy way out and it didnt really answer the question. it's not "whose team will have the most success", its "which coach will make the biggest impact". If Sean Payton brings the Saints to 8-8 and Edwards makes the playoffs w/ a 10-6 Chiefs team ...then you'd say Payton had the bigger impact because he took did more w/ less.

I like Childress because I think he'll finally get Minnesota's offensive talent to play to their potential. He's got underachievers in Burleson, Bennett and even Culpepper, to an extent. If they finally play to their potential, and with the re-emergence of Koren Robinson, I think the Vikes win 11 games and take the division, maybe even a 1st round bye in a weak NFC.

as for which coach will have the smallest impact ...eric mangini and mike mccarthy are the first two that come to mind. they both have huge messes on there hands and i don't think either is ready to handle it.

edit: check out the Vikes schedule ...They play 6 games against Detroit, Green Bay, and Chicago. 4 games against the NFC West . 4 games against the AFC East, and Carolina & Washington. It's gotta be one of the easiest schedules in the league.
