New British film in the works being written by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant (The Office, Extras) due for release next Spring.

"A 1970s-set comedy centered on three upstart professional men working at an insurance company."

"We want to capture the spirit of those classic British New Wave movies of the 1960s that made stars of Albert Finney, Julie Christie and Michael Caine. We are so excited about our fresh young cast - they are all film stars in waiting. "Cemetery Junction" is going to be glossy and glorious, full of humour, romance and drama as well as our usual observations on the truth and absurdity of real life."

Really can't wait for it. Gervais and Merchant make such a great partnership and each have such a passion for Film & TV writing, that as fans, they seem o produce great results. I adore the podcasts and old XFM stuff.

Gervais has said that this will be like the British Saturday Night Fever in it's style.

Here is the new teaser. Looks really good. It's nice to see some of the actors from their previous shows in this and Stephen Merchant looks hilarious in the second or two you see him. I love that guy.

I couldn't see any actors from their previous shows in the trailer? Which ones are you thinking of specifically? Haha, Merchant does look brilliant in the short second or two, so funny. His bit in The Invention Of Lying with 'Barry' was my favourite part.

I am excited for this. The BBC Office series is one of the best shows to ever be televised.

Ricky Gervais never pushes my funny button...

Well then this might up your street as it's not a comedy.

I think it's more of a drama than anything. They said it was their most serious work so far.

Nope, it's got a few bits of humour specked through it but on the whole is a drama about like in England in the 70's and whatnot. Imdb obviously is just making assumptions, both Gervais and Merchant and even the review I posted above have said how it's not a comedy nor is it like The Office for example because they realise that format on a big screen wouldn't work.

Then I'm actually quite interested. His comedies are so stale to me. This foray into drama sounds appealing.

Fair play, I can't get enough of him generally. But yeah, looking forward to this a lot.

Extras was a comedy, but I think a good portion of it is actually pretty serious.

Have you seen the office or extras. Obviously they are first and foremost comedy-driven, but as each series progresses they both actually become very dramatic. Even ghost town and the invention of lying, while inferior to the shows, still get pretty serious toward the end.

Watched this for the first time the other day, really enjoyed it, solid 8/10. Gervais and Merchant are really getting into the swing of directing. Can't wait for An Idiot Abroad and Life's Too Short.

Just got around to seeing this finally and I liked it for the most part. Nothing special but it wasn't a bad movie. Merchant's brief character was funny.

Yeah I watched it again a couple of days ago, I think they achieved what they wanted to with it which was just a nostalgic, feel-good British coming of age story. Always come away from it feeling good, but like you said it's nothing groundbreaking.

Felicity Jones kills me in it, looks ridiculously good.
