I'm sure i'm not the only one with mixed feelings, if not HUGE doubts about this, not a channing(i think i'm marky mark)tatum fan, and the guy who directed the mummy(whilch i do like) and van helsing(hated) would not have been my choice. But it does look like it has Street Fighter(94) potential, which isnt a bad thing given what its based on, so it might be decent campy popcorn fun, but only time will tell, but all that said, Sienna Miller does look friggin hott as Baroness

The rumors swirling around this movie have not been good at all. The director supposedly got locked out of the editing room because it turned out so bad, although I don't know if that was true or not. They did some test screenings and supposedly the movie was laughably bad. I loved G.I. Joe as a kid, but I don't think this is going to be very good at all.

Not gonna waste my time checking this movie out...not a fan of Channing Tatums roles/acting...although in real life he is a cool dude.

I expect it to be a fun ride full of explosions and nothing more. It's not like GI Joe was ever a pinnacle of writing history or anything anyway. It'll be just like Transformers, but with guns and ridiculous vehicles replacing robots in disguise. I was originally really concerned about it but the trailer didn't seem half bad and mostly I've decided I just don't give a fuck.

I agree. They made the trailer look awful...

You're right. My friend got tickets to an advance screening of it, and I got to go.
It's so, so violent. However, it's actually a solid movie. The story isn't bad, the acting is better than expected, it's well executed overall, and Marlon Wayans surprisingly doesn't suck. So, if you want to trust a complete stranger's opinion, I'd say check it out.

Do you think it will actually be a hit? It just looks really lame and I can totaally see it bombing at the box office
I think it won't be because of what everyone thinks it's going to be: a piece of shit. When really, it's a solid action movie miles abovethe Transformers series, The Transporter 2 and 3, Max Payne, and the new Street Fighter and Dragonball installments. I personally enjoyed it a lot, and it has potential to be one of the best blockbusters of the summer, if people pay to see it.

That isn't saying a lot becasue those movies are straight garbage but then again that is what usually sells tickets
Yeah, but I couldn't think of many blockbusters off the top of my head. Action-wise, I'd equate it with the first Transporter. Not by how the action is characterized, but strictly by the amount of fight scenes/battles, etc. I know I'm not making it sound good, but I don't really know how to make it sound good, besides saying that it just is. Like I told that other guy earlier, if you want to accept a stranger's opinion, then go to it, because it's way better than you'll be expecting.

See that's what I was hoping, it seems like with a solid cast that it will be a good, solid action film. Even if it remains faithful (to the cartoon at least) there will be room for cheesiness.

Yeah, there's a theater right by my house that always does first come first serve free advance screenings. It must be nationally acclaimed, because they always have people from the cast there to do a Q & A after the movie. Like I got to meet Jonah Hill and Jay Baruchel after my screening of Knocked Up, Michael Cera and Kat Dennings after Nick and Norah, and Brendan Fraser and Sienna Miller were there last weekend. Pretty crazy.

I don't see what's so bad about being disappointed in an actor that usually picks good scripts. He's one of my favorites and I'll watch something just because he's in it, now this kind of ruins that. The movie looks far too cheesy for his acting chops to be put to good use.

(500) Days Of Summer was great, and that was very different. I think all his roles have been vastly different, but what they have in common is a good movie. It's like Edward Norton. I watched it. At first, I laughed pretty often at how incredibly cheesy or ridiculous something was (even more than Transformers) but then I realized just how much of a kid's movie this was made to be. It was more enjoyable then. During the movie, I made a Spy Kids comparison then my sister couldn't stop laughing. It kind of felt just like that. Anyways, I didn't hate it, but I will agree with everyone that it was better than Transformers 2. I guess when I first heard about a G.I. Joe movie, I expected something way cooler and serious, which it could have been and it's disappointing that they didn't go in that direction. But, looking at it as just a kid's flick, I was never bored and I kind of enjoyed it.

SPOILERS WITHIN
I really enjoyed this movie and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I liked that they didn't try to do everything right off the bat and left the revelation of Cobra Commander till close to the end and how this was more of a movie about how the status quo came about. It was an origin story more than anything and it worked well. I'm not sure I liked that Scarlett hooked up with Ripcord but I realize pulling off the Scarlett-Snake Eyes romance believably is really difficult in the wrong hands, and I'm glad they chose to not make the attempt rather than butchering it.
I'm also glad that really, more or less, the villains won. Yo Joe!
I hope the next film gives Zartan more of a presence (which I'm sure it will considering) and I hope that we see more Destro vs. Cobra Commander action seeing as how Destro's now his unwilling slave. It'd also be interesting if they make Snake Eyes-Scarlett-Ripcord a triangle, but I don't want them to put too much focus on it, especially if it'll come off damaged. I'd rather they just focus on what they can do well rather than try to shoehorn half-assed sideplots.
