Help designing artist myspace

Hey,

So I know a tiny bit regarding html, but I'm still sort of in the dark. I've been visiting different artist myspaces and I was wondering if somebody could point me in the right direction. For example, how do you add a banner with links in it? (to itunes, websites, etc.)

For instance:

I know there is a design company that produced their myspace, but can't you do that yourself?

i found this very helpful when i was first starting out. Im still not the best, but I have learned that its a lot of trial and error. This is just for a very simple but nice looking layout.
