Caleb Cattivera
02/12/06, 03:16 PM
I'll be interviewing Brett Detar, formerly of The Juliana Theory (http://www.purevolume.com/thejulianatheory), this week. If you have any questions, regarding the breakup, future plans, or anything you want to ask him, please post them in the replies.
Is he still going to be making sweet sweet music?

Do you think the band's breakup will affect your status in future releases of Emogame?
Seriously, Caleb. Ask that :D

Why not just one last tour for the loyal, diehard fans? Why not want their last show to be in their home town as opposed to overseas? Why not covertly reunite under a new name, pick up where Deabeat Sweetheart left off, find a major label that will treat them right, and blow up? ha ha sounds like a plan

Have you guys completely ruled out maybe just taking a year or two off to get everything together and then coming back?
Are you planning a solo project?
Any chance of you rejoining zao?

Ask if his future project will sound anything like the juliana theory, and if so new or old juliana theory.
I hope it'd be old. Emotion is dead is amazing.
Did he ever think that the end of TJT would cause such an outpouring of fans as it did? (I.E. the post on here, especially when he called out ap as fake fans)
Is he planning on working on anything new, and if so what would he like for it sound like?
Whats a band out right now that he feels needs to get a break?
What was the best TJT tour?
Whats one band breakup that tore him apart?

i talked with brett on the phone today for about 30 mins, and he's one of the most humble people ive ever met. he was shocked by all the outpouring of support from everyone on the site. they had over 400 messages on myspace, some four and five paragraphs long begging them not to break up.
brett may seem cocky, cuz i've heard a couple of other people say this, but he's probably the least cocky and nicest person ive ever had the privelege of knowing.
in no way should jason gleason and brett ever be compared...unless you're saying they both released albums on tooth and nail...that's about all they have in common.
i love gleasons music...but he's no where near brett in terms of being a front man.

what does he think of the western pennsylvania music scene as of now? (maybe even compared to when they were first started out as a band)
i love "white days" by TJT, sooo awesome

So does that mean you did the interview already? If not, tell him that his fans really hope he continues making music in some way, shape, or form, and that this is not the last we've seen of Brett Detar.

Could you please ask him "why the headset microphones?"
(they just look so foolish)
Can you ask him why is still making excuses for re-recording 'Into the Dark' for the Love album? He still can't admit it was a bad move.

As other people have already asked, I'd like to know if he's gonna be involved in any future music projects. From all I've heard and seen, he seems like a great guy, and I love the music he's made. It'd be a shame if he doesn't keep going with it. I'd love to see some good things happen for him and the rest of the band after all they've been through.
Brett, you're awesome, keep rocking!

Yeah, Brett is an amazing guy. He is a bit odd, but he is really a nice dude. All of the guys in TJT are really nice actually.

I still dont know what the hell this is referring to. They have used in ear monitors, but never headset mics. I have seen them on every tour since 2000, and never once have I seen a headset mic. ever.

cause it wasnt a bad move, i like both versions
and another thing Love is the album that got me into TJT at first, and i love the album
in the bands' post on myspace detailing their breakup, they said they wrote 30+ songs for deadbeat sweetheartbeat, so my question is...any chance of a b-sides and rarities album?

Would you guys consider doing just one more show, not another tour, just one more show? It would be a great time, and me and about five other people would definitely drive through the night to see it (i'm sure we're not the only ones)

I'm gonna go out on a limb here... maybe he was talking about the cover of Music From Another Room? Or maybe one of the merch designs that they have with the same idea? Hmmmmmmmm...

no, that's not it. people rag on brett for wearing a headset mic (like garth brooks, britney spears would) during shows. I myself don't recall ever seeing him wear one and i saw the juliana theory perform eight times over the years. three during the height of their reign.
some people just want to continue to poke fun at easy targets.

Yeah, I remember the headset mic era...it was painful. I think they stopped wearing htem because so many people were laughing at them. But they definately wore them.

That's something I'd like to know. When they released Understand This Is A Dream, they had a long explanation on their Web site about how they were making music as part of a theory that couldn't be explained until it was all over. Unless I missed that explanation somehow or didn't realize that they were joking, I never found out, and it's been bugging me for years.

Hi Tommy Gunn! You're really Jim Worthen from Tooth & Nail Records, right? I like your alias, nice one!
Awesome that a 40 year old dude like you takes time to pose as a teenager online. Hope you're not up to anything too creepy like trying to lure young boys for sex. Jesus might not be down with that.
Keep rocking, Jim!
