I just signed up here after about 7 years of telling myself I would. I'm desperately craving new music and am looking for something that really ROCKS. I JUST discovered Emanuel, which I will probably be chastised for not doing way sooner, but I have been rooted firmly in 90s music for a while now after I got tired of the breathy/winy/screamo stuff my friends listen to. So any suggestions?? I am looking for more rock than pop, but of course I'll give anything a chance.

Hmm.. I wouldn't really classify Emanuel as "rock" but you named them, so I won't just name "rock" bands. Rather, I'll name bands a few bands that rock (i.e. go see them live, they're fun and full of energy):

-Alexisonfire
-Grady
-Protest the Hero
-The Bronx
-Every Time I Die
-Clutch

(Note: These bands don't sound alike. If you hate PTH, you might still love Alexisonfire.)

Yeah, I use the term rock loosely. I'm a big fan of the Bronx, and Brand New is absolutely brilliant (devil and god has to be my all time favorite album, THAT is pure rock music to me). I tend to stray away from pop rock, I like stuff that's more involved than straight 8th note melody-heavy rock, which is what a lot of stuff I hear these days is. And singing-wise I like it really raw, Kenny Vasoli got awesome at this I think. Just saw him with Person L and they were right up my alley. Can't stand extremely processed vocals or screamo screaming (but yelling, a la nirvana, brand new etc. is a different story).

But anyway that's more or less my loose interpretation of the word ROCK. Raw, powerful, moving, spontaneous, impassioned.

Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions so far, I'm already finding some sweet stuff.
