View Full Version : The Get Up Kids in the studio for a new album?!?

Shortly after setting up a new Twitter account (www.twitter.com/tguk, confirmed legitimate by the band's Myspace page), the band posted two pictures from the studio, presumably the soon-to-be-sold Black Lodge studios that the band co-owns with producer Ed Rose. Now, it could conceivably be the band re-mastering tracks for the upcoming 10th anniversary re-release of Something to Write Home About, but one of the pictures was of Rob Pope playing bass, which seems to suggest new material. Any thoughts?

skeptical, but I'm not against it. Lifetime and Dinosaur Jr have made great albums after reuniting so I have a bit of hope

I would be all for a new get-up kids album, but to me those pictures don't really look like a band that's recording a new album. But who knows, I didn't think they'd have a reunion tour.

They've tweeted a few more times, mostly cryptic instrument/recording info. ("telecaster, ac30, super overdrive" "scratch tracks with real drums") This seems to confirm that they're recording... SOMETHING. If it's a new album, an EP, or just bonus tracks for the Something to Write Home About, it seems that this much is true: The Get Up Kids are in the studio. Ever think you'd hear that again?
