Last night at the Montreal Canadiens/New York Islanders hockey game, the American national anthem was booed. There were also games in Calgary and Vancouver, that involved american teams and the anthems were not booed at either of those games. what do you think about that? why only in montreal was the anthem booed?

i think its disrespectful, not because the canadian people should agree with the war, but because there are american players on the montreal team, as well as the new york team, and it is disrespectful to the players who are there to entertain you. i have no problem with the canadian people protesting america, but i still think it was disrespectful.

Booing the national anthem just shows how much of a dickfuck you are. So does waving the flag upside down with "No War"written on it. That pisses me off. How many people died for you to be able to do this. Thats just a slap in their face. Protest, fine. Stay off of the roads and bridges, and dont discrace the flag or anthem. That is just discracing the freedoms you are using at your disposal.

Booing at anthems is retarded. I won't stand for the anthem, but booing it is just obnoxious. Upside down flags are another matter though...

Exactly what point is supoosed to be made by the upside down flags? Is is something along the lines of "I have no respect for the nation that grants me the right to do stupid things like this?"

In some instances it is usefull to make a point. For example, I'm an anarchist. I hate the concept of country. I have an upside down canadian flag in my bedroom, and one sewn on my back-pack. It's my way of protesting the concept of counties. Its no diferent then an athiest wearing an upside down cross. Other times people do it to be trendy, then it defeats the purpose.

It seems to me that the vast majority of the people who do thing like this are ignorant and just want to make noise. You may be an exception, but most people who make gestures like the upside down flag don't seem to have an argument behind it.

Un fortuntly, i think your right. I have met a few people who can back up their reasons for it, but most just wanna be cool.
