I'll second this, even though he's not really 'fresh', he's been around for a while.

The Microphones. Very important to check out The Glow Pt. 2. One of the best lo-fi folk albums of the 00's.

Andrew Jackson Jihad is just an amazing "folk-punk" band.

Glasvegas, Augie March, My Morning Jacket.

Augie March are by far the 'folkiest' out of those three, but they're all worth a listen.

I know the song but can't think of the name. What is it?

To answer the question, I suggest anything by Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, anything by Devendra Banhart, and Eureka by Jim O'Rourke.

I've heard about this band a lot from my friends recently. I guess I should check them out.

The new mewithoutYou record is pretty dope.

Meh... It's currently in my top 10 of the year, but it's a major disappointment after their last two albums.

Still haven't gotten that yet. My brother went to a record store in Pittsburgh today, so I told him to look for it. If he doesn't get it for me, I'll just download it.

I happen to be listening to Grizzly Bear's Veckatimest right now, and I think it fits into this category.

Bright Eyes Cassadaga has a folky feel to it.

Oh, and give Neutral Milk Hotel's In The Aeroplane Over The Sea a try.

Or an Oberst side project.

I know you're laughing at that.
