Is it just me, or is it weird that someone that has a fan base similar to that of the Jonas Brothers posted a picture of himself smoking a cigarette?

The comments on the picture (http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=43428902&albumID=2537172&imageID=53961359) are hilarious: "My opinion of you has changed :(", "Smoking cigs is HAWT", "Ur killing urself".

A stadium show with explosions and subwoofers loud enough to give them their first sexual experience. Perhaps that is on the horizon.

I don't think he realizes that smoking went out of vogue in the 90's...unless he wasn't old enough in the 90's to know that, and if that's the case then someone needs to tell him. How old is he anyway? This would be pretty bad if he isn't legal yet.

I don't smoke, but I know tons of people that do, and most of them started because it was the common thing to do while wasted or super high, or after various other activities. I'm not sure why Chris would start. Kind of random considering he's going for the whole Earth-friendly, hippie, vegan, but still Christian image.

Tons and tons. 98% of people I tour with either smoke or drink. Some of my favorite people in the world can't go 2 hours without smoking a bowl. Personally, I find myself to be a less productive individual when high. It also triggers depression for me. Those are the reasons I don't smoke.

I'll never understand how people can smoke while they're drinking. It makes me sick to my stomach.
Hippie: that's your answer right there, although that definitely does contradict any sort of "pure"/"Christian" image he may be attempting to obtain.

Guessing he's legal. Or maybe he's just pissing more label money away by having a cigarette providing assistant.

Just thinking about that. I'm sure plenty of animals die as a result of the production of tobacco. Kinda seems contra-vegan.

Without going indepthly into the whole weed vs. alcohol comparisions, there's little reason for it to be illegal. So most people don't care. Hell, I'd smoke if it didn't reak havoc on my anxiety.

I loled at this.
All though, please consider the fact that I am but a mere 15 years old but am capable of loving both Beatles and FOB.
Jeff Buckley is my musical hero, a hero that no one has heard of, so I think that if people - even pathetic teenagers - really love something it doesn't matter what everyone else likes, they'll still love it.

Haha weird. Island marketed me as a Christian artist for a while. They sent my album to all of these youth ministers and shit to show to their kids. I remember someone said "My entire youth group listened to your album this morning and talked about how the lyrics relate to our faith."

wait, this name/group/whatever is just one fucking guy? ONE dude? Im guessing this tag name Never Shout Never, is some electronic beep beep boop boop sit behind garageband on his macbook that his rich parents bought him and watch the myspace hits take off to help him make some sweet neon t-shirts for little girls to buy on merch now. Now I have never listened, nor do I know anything about him or care, but why does ONE guy that can basically hit one button (to play all his music) and only need a couple of things to present his live show need a fucking bus that big. Reading through this thread, if he is really advocating some sort of nu jack hippie image or eco friendly living or vegan this or whatever the fuck, him getting carted around a giant bus kind of negates all the things he claims he is about. Seems like someone is a little fake, but that's just my take.

Yeah, he was drawing enormous amounts of 14 year old girls.
Now, when people say 14 year old girls listen to PlayRadioPlay, it's an exaggeration. There are some 14 year olds, but most of my fans are between 16 and 20, and not exclusively girls. There's also normally a good amount of older people there for me, my age or older.
However, when I say 14 year olds come out to Never Shout Never concerts, I really, really mean it. 13, 14 year old girls getting dropped off by parents in groups of 6 with shit tons of cash. I've never seen anything like it. They treated him like he's Miley Cyrus or something.

One of the local college's radio stations played your music, so I think it's safe to say that you do have college-aged fans. They had a $1 CD sale late last year to clean out all of the duplicate CDs they have in their library and The Frequency EP was among many of the albums I purchased.
And speaking of college, these parents would do a lot better by their children if they put some of that money into a savings account for them. It'll help their kids pay for college or it'll help them pay for concert merchandise when they get older and have better taste in music.
He is very effeminate, after all.

Personally I think that your music would greatly benefit from a nice ! at the end of your name. It works for him.
Or maybe Play!RadioPlay...?
His band name used to have an exclamation point. I think he dropped it.
Not sure if this has been said yet, but Wikipedia says that this guy's been smoking since age 14, and it's sourced.

I was hoping when I saw that someone named NSN FAN had posted that this would be a hilarious diatribe about the integrity of this shitty band. Unfortunately, it was worse than I thought.

When I was on tour with him for almost a month, I never saw him smoke a cigarette. Maybe he picked up the habit when he got the new tattoos.
Why/when did this happen? Is he a nice guy? Did you get on? Secks?
Hahaha. Somebody played a joke on me this morning...

Is he seriously sitting in a porta-potty barefoot? I don't even like going in those with shoes on. That's disgusting.

It's the market right now and it's why I personally don't go to shows unless I REALLY want to see the band. You get the same kind of waves at All Time Low shows and it's possibly the most annoying thing ever. Don't get me wrong I'm all for having kids get into the scene but when you're attacking people unloading equipment (the kid had no chance) the whole while screaming things such as "WRITE/NAME A SONG AFTER ME!" because you think he's in Mayday Parade just stay home. At least have looked at some of the other bands playing before hand. I could understand if it was an opening act or something of that nature but when it's one of the bands co-headlining the tour and you have no idea whose in it you as all the while you sport the ONE band tee you had because you scored it at Hot Topic, you end up being THAT GUY/GIRL at the show. To quote Droz from PCU "What's this? You're wearing the shirt of the band you're going to see? Don't be that guy."
That being said I guess it's supposed to be expected at this point isn't it? I mean with bands like All Time Low and 3OH!3 being played over the radio waves, not that I begrudge them I'm all about spreading music around, you're going to get bands that reach that Miley Cyrus type hype. Thanks to youtube, the fact that we're a nation of voyeurs now, and that for whatever reason girls go bat shit crazy for him the kid is doing more then just a little alright and has some serious pull with the younger crowds. Although personally I think you're much more attractive Dan or maybe that's just more rationalizing of my 08 trip to Bamboozle.
Regardless of that though and while I do in fact smoke I'm not to high on the fact that he's having pictures posted of him doing so. We get it Chris you're an adult. You manage to keep your singing chops despite pounding down one or two of your Marlboro Menthol Ultra Lights and look artsy as shit while doing it but your market is a bunch of kids. Is this a ploy to become the new Marlboro man because if so I'd throw on a cowboy hat or at least put some cowboy boots on to make it a bit more realistic.
That is all

Yeah, but that was out of spite. I wouldn't say that Brand New would encourage drinking and driving, unless you sleep with their girlfriend and they hate you - ALLEGEDLY. Allegedly.
haha, great post.

i don't think it really matters that he smokes, but i hate when celebrities/musicians glamourize it and make it look like it's just awesome, especially having a young fanbasse that are more susceptible.

Yes, unfortunately it was an acoustic tour :-(.
I've toured with Spill Canvas, Portugal The Man, Secondhand Serenade (blehhhh), a few shows with Fall Out Boy, Lydia, Daphne Loves Derby, a few shows with Anberlin, and others I can't remember at the moment.
