View Full Version : Holy Shit! Huge Knicks Trade In The Works!!!

No one has been working the phones like Isiah Thomas, who has been frantically trying to remake the Knicks (http://knicks.realgm.com/) roster before the February 23 trade deadline. The latest rumor is the most outrageous yet: the beleaguered Knicks (http://knicks.realgm.com/) GM is trying to deal the entire Knicks (http://knicks.realgm.com/) squad, plus TV color analyst Walt “Clyde” Frazier, and Anucha Brown Sanders, the former Knicks (http://knicks.realgm.com/) employee accusing Thomas of sexual harassment, to Detroit (http://pistons.realgm.com/) for the Pistons (http://pistons.realgm.com/) starting lineup of Ben Wallace (http://www.realgm.com/src_playerfile/436/ben_wallace/), Rasheed Wallace (http://www.realgm.com/src_playerfile/172/rasheed_wallace/), Richard Hamilton (http://www.realgm.com/src_playerfile/395/richard_hamilton/), Chauncey Billups (http://www.realgm.com/src_playerfile/310/chauncey_billups/), and Tayshaun Prince (http://www.realgm.com/src_playerfile/750/tayshaun_prince/).
The deal would be part of an extraordinary eight-team trade that would involve 24 players, 16 future draft picks, 4 coaches, 3 General Managers, and 2 assistant trainers. As compensation for Detroit (http://pistons.realgm.com/), both Thomas and former Knicks (http://knicks.realgm.com/) guard Allan Houston (http://www.realgm.com/src_playerfile/65/allan_houston/) would come out of retirement to shore up the Pistons (http://pistons.realgm.com/) backcourt. “I can still play,” Thomas assured skeptics. “Bring it on.”
Never in the history of the NBA has an entire team been traded at once, but Thomas, defending the moves while juggling two cell phone calls and a second sexual harassment charge, reminded reporters that “I told you none of my players were untouchable. Not Stephon Marbury (http://www.realgm.com/src_playerfile/252/stephon_marbury/), not Channing Frye (http://www.realgm.com/src_playerfile/1088/channing_frye/), not Jalen Rose (http://www.realgm.com/src_playerfile/452/jalen_rose/), even though I just traded for him.”
In the past several weeks, Thomas boasted of having talked to almost 200 players about coming to play at Madison Square Garden. “Shaq, Kobe, Dirk, you name it, I’ve called them,” he said. “Everyone wants to play in New York (http://knicks.realgm.com/), but not every team can make it happen.”
Asked why he would break up a team that is 40-8, Dumars said, “You don’t mess with a guy as desperate as Isiah. He has a plan, he’s in great shape, and I fully expect that we can keep the Pistons (http://pistons.realgm.com/) playing at the championship level that fans are accustomed to. We’re trading away 5 great players, but we’re getting 12 in return. We’re getting a fine TV analyst in Clyde Frazier. And we’re getting an upstanding young female executive (Sanders) who should step right into our front office.”
But news reports coming out of Detroit (http://pistons.realgm.com/) suggested that the Pistons (http://pistons.realgm.com/) were forced into the deal by NBA commissioner David Stern, who has long believed that the league needs a winning team in New York (http://knicks.realgm.com/) to bolster TV ratings. “If I sit through another Pistons-Spurs (http://spurs.realgm.com/) Finals, I’ll kill myself,” Stern was heard muttering to no one in particular.
Thomas was recently hit with a second sexual harassment charge from a Garden scoreboard operator, who claimed she was fired after bringing up the errant pass Thomas threw to Larry Bird, costing the Pistons (http://pistons.realgm.com/) Game 5 of the 1987 East Finals against the Celtics. “He called me a Bird-loving shrew,” said the woman, who wished to remain anonymous.
If the deal goes through, the Knicks (http://knicks.realgm.com/) will become almost certain favorites to at least reach the .500 mark, and perhaps even sneak into the playoffs.
“Of course I’m excited at the chance to play in New York (http://knicks.realgm.com/),” said Rasheed Wallace (http://www.realgm.com/src_playerfile/172/rasheed_wallace/), “even if it means being reunited with [coach Larry Brown].”
Rip Hamilton echoed his teammate’s thoughts: “It’s almost as if they scratched out the Detroit (http://pistons.realgm.com/) name on our jerseys and replaced it with New York (http://knicks.realgm.com/).”
Predictably, Knicks (http://knicks.realgm.com/) players were stunned. Stephon Marbury (http://www.realgm.com/src_playerfile/252/stephon_marbury/), his head covered in white towels, left a practice session without speaking to reporters. Eddy Curry (http://www.realgm.com/src_playerfile/93/eddy_curry/) reported a recurrence of his irregular heartbeat. Only ebullient guard Nate Robinson (http://www.realgm.com/src_playerfile/1101/nate_robinson/) seemed optimistic. “We’re going to the best team in the NBA,” he said, before being told who else was going to Detroit (http://pistons.realgm.com/) with him.
The Knicks (http://knicks.realgm.com/) will fill out the rest of their team with a variety of future draft picks and players to be named later, culled from eight different teams. Another rumor has Latrell Sprewell (http://www.realgm.com/src_playerfile/73/latrell_sprewell/) returning as the Knicks’ Director of Media Relations.
Perhaps no player was happier about the blockbuster trade than Pistons (http://pistons.realgm.com/) backup center “Donnie” Darko Milicic (http://www.realgm.com/src_playerfile/830/darko_milicic/). “I finally get to play,” he said in halting English.

Yeah, they don't hold a candle to that amazing Atlanta Hawks legacy.
You root for the most irrelevant team in the NBA, possibly in all of professional sports. One title in 1958 when the team was in St. Louis. They haven't even played in the finals 45 YEARS. And you can pretend that Joe Johnson and Al Harrington are the future, but you're not fooling anyone. They'll never be able to land the necessary free agents to be a contender, because NO ONE wants to play there. So before we start telling other teams to fold, maybe we should check ourselves.
Why are the Knicks so storied? Ewing, Reed, Frazier, Bradley, DeBusschere, Monroe, McGuire. For having some of the most passionate fans in the NBA.
Isiah Thomas is a joke. No kidding. He's turned one of the key franchises in the NBA into one of the most pathetic. More importantly, he's turned a fan base that lives and dies on Knicks basketball into an extremely depressing site. You haven't the slightest idea as to how this is killing the fans. Once he's gone, things will turn around.

hahahahah shut the fuck up. the hawks arent even storied. i do root for the hawks. i know they suck. and i know they're going to continue to suck for a long ass time. i can admit that. so you're hurting me in no way by saying that long rant. so anytime you want to stop being a whiny little bitch you can.
the knicks have 38 playoff appearnces...the hawks 36...we're only two behind that 'legacy' of the knicks or whatever people want to call it. ewing? a center who could never get it done in the big games, but has nice career numbers. willis reed has seven good seasons in the nba, three below par. hall of fame is questionable, but who am i to judge that. i like frazier simply for the fact that he's an siu alum and my grandma taught him at southern. bill bradley? are you kidding me? what a medi core player. double d had some good seasons ill give him his due. dick mgquire? that's hilarious. and earl the pearl was pretty good too.
if you want to take everything ive said in this thread seriously you can, or if you want to continue to bitch and try to tell me my team sucks and they should fold, and tear me down or whatever go for it. because i wouldnt argue one bit. the hawks are the laughing stock of atlanta.

^^^^^Not to mention real Knicks fans are intelligent and very loyal basketball fans.
As for Isiah, he hasn't done a good job. But the reality of it is that he was in a tough situation when he came. From the Layden Era the Knicks weren't under the cap and will never be under the cap. When they free up salaries it does nothing for them because they are so far over the cap. So basically they have to trade every expiring contract they have if they want to take on any new players (ex: rumored Steve Francis trade).
Not to mention they play in the toughest city to play in, in the world. The Knicks can't rebuild. They are stuck. They just need to work. They are in the shitter right now, and won't be a decent team until after the 08-09 season when they would lose Marbury's salary, possibly Francis' salary. Q-rich, and Jerome James' salary. They also lose various salaries over the next 2 years.
What the knicks are trying to do is build up some kind of one two punch with Francis and Marbury. They may try to package him later, but we will see. It's rough times for the next 2 or 3 years, but I'm loyal and I'll stick by. I mean Isiah and LB are both going to be gone in the next 2 or 3 years anyway.

also, thomas will be out at seasons end. the knicks organization has already been making calls.

Cute that you have to resort to name calling.
Ewing averaged 21/10 in the regular season, and 20/10 in the playoffs for his career. He wasn't the one that didn't show up in big games.
The three mediocre seasons for Reed were due to injuries... If had never gotten hurt, he'd always be in the conversation about all-time greats.
Bradley didn't need to put up big numbers on the Knicks teams he was on. The fact of the matter is the guy played ahead of the game. The way he knew how how to develop a play isn't something that can be measured. Watch some old videos sometime. He didn't get elected into the Hall Of Fame on a whim.
McGuire? Seven-time all-star, led the NBA in assists as a ROOKIE. One of the great passers of all-time.

that's funny, in every poll or column ive seen about top point guards, mcguire's never mentioned. greatest passers of all time? no. he lead the nba in total assists...who goes by that? andy phillip had a higher per game average in assists in 1950. when people talk about someone leadding the leauge in assists, they dont mean total..they mean per game. andy phillip had a highet assist per game average in 1950.
mcguire was good...but to say he's one of the greatest passers of all time is going a bit far.
