The Everglow Re-Release

Mae (http://www.whatismae.com) will be re-releasing The Everglow in the beginning of April. The contents of this release can be seen below. The band is also currently in the studio with Mark Hoppus working on a cover for the Punk Goes 90s compilation. They will either be covering "Break It Down Again" by Tears For Fears or "March of the Pigs" by Nine Inch Nails.

Not really, I already bought the first Everglow the first day it came out cause I love the band. The "true" (I use that term loosely) get screwed over because the "better" version is now getting released later, thus the "true" fan missing out on all the neat extras. I do not feel like spending another 11-12 bucks for the whole album again, it's annoying. There are few reissues ever worth buying.

yes, to al labels who are doing this for extra money STOP IT. You are going the way of the buffalo. This is going to end up hurting labels when kids catch on and stop buying the album when it comes out and will wait for the rerelease. but if everyones waiting and not buying it, then you will have no sales and no need for a rerelease.

rereleases should be save for the certain cases, such as way after a band has broken up, or if an album gets remixed, or remastered, for better quality

Haha, but you gotta admit it's getting really annoying. Especially the Alkaline Trio Crimson reissue. They could have released it as a deluxe edition when the original first released. This just gets me mad. I'm not going to buy anymore big name Tooth and Nail or Victory artists albums on the first day anymore cause I know those will just get reissued.

The Say Anything reissue is slightly different though, same with the Early November reissue. I can deal with those because both of those albums initially were having stocking issues. DTR reissued The Room's Too Cold because it was hard to find the first version in stores I guess. And J is re-releasing Say Anything because that was very hard to find in most stores, so they are reissuing that so that people can actually find in stores, but I think they could have just released those 7 songs on an EP.

And i bought the Benedictine Monks of Santo Domingo De Silos album when I was in 7th grade because I thought it was a rap group like the Wu-tang. 11 years later and I would still play that album before the Everglow. Man i hate it.

I agree. What I really think they should do is sell the extra stuff for $5. So if you own the CD, you can get the exclusives for only $5 and still have everything. Most people are not going to buy an album they already own for one or two extra songs. For instance, with the re-release of TBS's TAYF, Victory should have had a separate single of "Ballad of Sal Villanueva" which also could have included the acoustic version of "Cute w/o the 'E'." For $4, they might have sold that to me. As it was, I didn't feel like buying the album again so they didn't make any extra money from me.

If the labels followed this model, they'd get not only the purchase from the people who didn't buy the album right away (I'll buy this and I already bought the deluxe versions of both Rufio's "Perhaps..." and Alk3's "Crimson"), and they won't shoot themselves in the foot by people avoiding the initial release to wait for the re-release.

I agree. I feel that re-issues are such a fucking lame thing to do to get money, and it seems that everyone is jumping on the bandwagon: Rufio, Senses Fail, Underoath, Fall Out Boy, and now Mae. I don't know what's more ridiculous: re-issues or artists/bands releasing "greatest hits" albums only after having 2 albums.
