Arguably the greatest producer of all time. Be My Baby, You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin', River Deep-Mountain High, Let It Be, Plastic Ono Band, Imagine, All Things Must Pass, and so much more.
Show some love.

Is it weird that I can listen to A Christmas Gift to You any time of the year?
Sony releasing Crystals, Ronnettes and Darlene Love retrospectives with really good remastering really lets you hear how brilliant Spector was.

Haha. Man was a god. A crazy, woman-killing genius. How come talent comes in such awful packages sometimes. Haha.

Got a 4 disc comp. of girl groups from the 60's last night..not surprisingly he produced about 1/4th of them, haha.
Obviously, "Be My Baby" is his best work, but I love the work he did with The Crystals too. "Then He Kissed Me," and "Da Doo Ron Ron" are so excellent.

The Ronette's whole first album is wonderful. But if we're talking his best work, I'm going with All Things Must Pass, or song-wise, maybe "River Deep, Mountain High."

I'll agree that All Things Must Pass is his best album, but song-wise, "Be My Baby" is just the epitome of an excellent hit song. I know I'm not really going out on a limb saying so, as most music critics put it in the top 20 of all time, but it just never slows down, the hook is monstrous and literally takes your breath away, and the Wall of Sound just fits so well with the vocals that you literally can't distinguish any particular instrument..everything is one.

My Brian Wilson fanboy-ness aside, he put it best, saying,
'Be My Baby' the greatest pop record ever made — no arguments here.
Even though the song pretty much literally drove him to insanity, listening to the pre-chorus and chorus on loop for over 24 hours straight with all of the lights off, lying on the floor with the tape looped all the way around the room and yelling at anyone who came in.. haha

This guy I know got kicked out of a party by Phil Spector; but yeah, great producer and a nut-job, everything he worked on was great. I'm particularly fond of The Ronettes.

Spector, from what I've heard, was a huge ass, haha. Liked who he worked with on the albums, but would often get on those performing and making them do ridiculous amounts of takes to get the right sound. But, hell, it paid off, because he got such an excellent sound. He was also very stand-offish in the studio, and wouldn't let people come in and observe.
But, I suppose he's an ass for more reasons than those above..considering the whole homicide thing.
