why do you think were in iraq? iran is between afghanistan and iraq, so its ideal to be on both sides before we attack. thats the real reason for going into iraq, dubya wanted saddam hussein out ofcourse, but the big picture is for attacking iran.

not surprising because it is obviously a serious consideration. you'll want a plan in place in case it comes to that.

One would think that the "worst idea ever" would be to allow a fanatical Muslim state the ability to develop and use nuclear weapons against other nations......but.....

Recent events have shown us that these are rational, intelligent, peaceful people so who knows, maybe a country with vast quantities of untouched oil really does need nuclear power to power its oil dependent economy....?

You know, there is an entire topic about this like 3 places down from where you made this one.

And yes, the "worst idea ever" would be to let Iran build up nuclear weapons that they would then like to use to destroy us, Europe, and of course Israel.

Why does Iran want to blow us up, Dan? Give me a serious answer.

the iran govt doesnt like us but the actual normal person in iran likes us. id feel that if we bombed them probably unilaterally then we would piss off the rest of the population.

Anyone who thinks fighting potential violence with violence is effective is a dumbass. Once again, history repeats itself. You don't kill people just to get rid of their nuclear weapons. Unfortunately, modern undecisive Americans don't seem to know this.
If anyone cared about the threat of violence, we would have killed the terrorists that killed us in the first place. Who's that? Oh right, the Saudis. But why should we give a shit? Nevermind that they have a perhaps more totalitarin government than Iraq or Iran. We're not hypocrites, just selective on who we choose to bomb.
Say, anyone hear of a country called "North Korea". Wow. I had no idea that they already have nuclear warheads.

And who controls the weapons in Iran? The "youth that love us" or the crazy dictator and government?

And to whoever it was that asked me why they'd want to blow us up... well, because their dictator has publicly stated that he'd like to see the western world and Israel blown off the map.

Plus it does not matter anyway. We have to assume that they are going to use their nukes for a malicious purpose because they refuse to disclose their work, and refuse any UN sanctions.

potential violence and potential nuclear violence are in two different leagues. i much rather attack potential nuclear violence than nuclear violence. doesn't sound very dumbass to me...and i don't think we will until there is a serious threat. i don't think the administration will be that gungho.

I don't understand why Israel is considered to be some sort of helpless state. They have nuclear weapons, they don't allow IAEA inspections of their facilities, and they have not signed the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty. It could also be easily argued that they harbor terrorists. This is not some helpless little country; it is a full blown nuclear power in the Middle East.

They should be sanctioned, just as Iran is; otherwise we’re being hypocritical and pro-Israel.

The Youth don't control the nukes nor have any power. So by your conclusion we should not bomb Iranian nuclear facilities because the people who don't control them, who have no real power, and who would probably prefer the Iranian Dictators not gain nuclear weapons.......might get pissed.

Does that really make any rational sense?

I don't understand why Israel is considered to be some sort of helpless state. .

I don't think anyone thinks Israel is utterly helpless, but people worry because of the position Israel finds its self in and the ramifications its response would have world wide.

They should be sanctioned, just as Iran is; otherwise we’re being hypocritical and pro-Israel.

What’s wrong with being "pro-Israel" when the rest of the world is anti-Israel?.......And its hardly hypocritical to treat a dictatorship and a free democracy differently. Israel hasn't shown it’s self to be the volatile and dangerous nation Iran has, so our response to them shouldn't be the same.
