I have to go, so chew on this while I'm gone.
If the oil doesn't matter than:
Why did Bush feel that it was of equal importance to tell the Iraqi's not to resist as it was to tell them not to burn the oil wells? Almost like we were willing to play the game, just so long as they didnt ruin our prize.
Why was one of Bush's first priorities to contract Haliburton to put out the oil well fires?
So, how many Iraqi's does your car get to the mile?

1. Oil does matter. No one has denied that. However, it is not the reason for war. If we wanted to go for war for oil, we would attack Canada, our #1 importer.
2. Oil is one of the only sources of income for the Iraqi economy. If we expect our nation building to be sucsessful, we need to make sure that they have a source of income. That source is oil, so it's bad to burn it.
3. Maybe Bush contatced Haliburton because they were experts in putting out oil well fires. I don't see the problem here. It's not like oil is evil.

Did you listen to Bush's speech? He said dont burn them because it is a great source of IRAQI wealth. Dumbass.

And not to mention that burning oil in that large of an amount probably does wonders for the environment. Like whoa.

wow, this is amazing.
you stupid liberals protest destruction of the enviroment, and then protest Bush's statement to protect the oil. Hmm, lets think. What does burning oil do to the enviroment?

You can't put humans infront of the enviroment. We depend on a healthy enviroment to live.

We all want a healthy environment dont get me wrong, but some, mostly on your side of the political scale, take it to extremes.
Cutting millions of jobs to save an owl, is just crazy, same with cutting off river water to a farm so that a single bread of fish can survive.

I guess my bigest beef with him interms of the enviroment was that he didn't radify the Kyoto protocol.

See i disagree, and i knew thats what you were getting at, Kyoto was a joke, the two biggest polluters in the world ,India and China, were exempt from it, so it was basicly ineffective, second it would have made cost of production rise so high in the US that we wouldn't have been able to compet with eastern asia countries that wouldn't have had to follow it, so it would have been making them money while hurting us. third only Romania had signed it when we passed on it, why didn't more countries ratify it soon?

it was a very stupid proposal that was heavily slanted towards the US being "handcuffed" pollution wise and was designed to help the enviroment and stuff.

venezuela's the US's largest oil provider. but there are political issue's going on down ther (caused by the US) which is why it's so expensive. Iraqui oil, if we could get our grubby little paws on it, is more easily rendered, and would be cheaper if we were to take it from them.
also, the other reasons bush give to this war is
1. to get rid of Saddam, and
2. to liberate iraq
iraqi's almost got rid of Saddam a while ago, which would have liberated themselves, but when they almost suceeded the US helped Saddam get rid of them and stay in power. those two explanations just went out the window. what's left but oil?

that isn't true, the US never helped saddam get rid of the rebels, we supported the rebels...
