is OnDemand essentially the same thing as having a DVR, except you can only watch what that channel makes available?

It's a bunch on programming available at any time which is decided by the networks, etc. With a DVR, you record what you want to record.

can't wait. i got seasons 1-5 as a graduation present, and i'm subscribing to hbo before 6 starts, so this'll be the first one i actually watch as intended.

I think this show is good, I've watched seasons 1-4, but I do not think it is an outstanding show. Good, not great.

you gotta put it in perspective though. as far as cinematic value, the sopranos is miles beyond anything that had ever been done on television before it. tv's made a lot of strides since it started, particularly on hbo, fx, and (much as i personally don't like these shows) things like 24 and lost, but there's so many things that we think of as commonplace on tv now that started with the sopranos. and for my money it's the most insightful show on the concept of "family" that i've ever seen.

I know, I watch a shitload of TV (seen every episode of over 20 series), I just think The Sopranos gets more credit than it deserves.

Let this fucking show die already. These last two seasons have been a waste of time for the most part.
