Coming to USA- need HELP please :)

Dear AP USA friends,;-)

I'm State bound and im looking for some advice about sightseeing and bands.

I'm in California, San Francisco & Las Vegas.
I'm in each city for about 4 days each.
Obviously, things like Hollywood, Chinatown etc will be things I'll probably get around
to seeing. But I'm interested in seeing some things that tourists may not usually see. Any
obscure things/museums/sights/stores I should check out in these cities?

Any recommendations would be GREATLY appreciated!!! :-)

Im also looking for some sweet shopping centres stores in these cities. any ideas?
I've heard about Hot Topic but are there any other ones I should check out to
get my Merch? Im eyeing some of the new Set Your Goals gears :)

Also, if you know of any bands playing in these cities between July 4-July 17 let me know :)

Ok, so you're going to San Fran, and California? Well if you're down in San Diego, go to a venue called the Epicenter. Alot of good bands play there. If you're in LA, go to a Chivas USA or LA Galaxy game, or a baseball game depending on if you want all American or not. I don't know any concert venues in LA but i know there are some good ones. For Vegas, skip it and come to SLC and we'll have a good time, i promise.

Some tips from a Kiwi who has just come back from a two week trip to St Louis and Anaheim:

- Don't drink tap water in LA. It's disgusting.
- US currency is primitive. Paper notes, all the same size and colour. They STILL have the 1c and 5 coins, and the sizes don't make any sense - 10c coins smaller than 5c and 1c coins!
- Tax is added AFTER you buy something, which means you'll never really know how much something will cost unless you're a maths whizz, so you end up paying with cash notes, meaning you end up with a crapload of coins. Ugh.
- Flicking a light switch up turns the lights on, while flicking it down turns them off. I know. It's weird.
- Tipping is a bitch. Just add a few dollars and call it a day.
- There is so much sugar added to bread that it tastes like cake. Try to find a real bakery.
