View Full Version : Make A Music Signature

You can make your own "music signature" with this website (http://www.jasonfreeman.net/itsm/). Essentially you give it the parameters by which to sort your music and it makes a nice little sound file which plays the number of songs you choose based on either play count, rating etc. The only requirement of this site is that you use iTunes (http://www.itunes.com) because that's how it collects data for the sound file.
that's really fuckin cool. thanks!

haha I know, seriously.. I heard some songs in there that I haven't listened to in a long time, but they're there because I have played them so many times in the past.

This is completely awesome.
I like it best when it only layers 2 songs.
I'm playing around with last played date, play count, and choosing either only one song from each artist or one song from each album.
Kick ass.

the rest of the world (including the die-hard PC creators of Penny-Arcade) have to disagree with you:

Yeah, the "rest of the world." - aka one of the 2 Penny Arcade guys. For a stand-alone music player, it is awful. Period.
You're seriously such a stubborn retard when it comes to Apple products. It cracks me up.

use MediaMonkey...it's so much better than itunes plus you can use it with your ipod.
i highly suggest checking this out. (the sound quality of itunes is just awful)

This is really cool... Although I can't really distinguish much of the songs in there, it still does a good job of representing the diversity present within my music library...

what do you use?
Windows Media Player, Real Player, etc. all the other main ones are trash. I don't WinMX well enough to trash it, but things like Musicmatch make me want to punch babies when I see them on someon's computer. And with Mytunes and stuff like that, I find Itunes to be incredibly convenient. Actually, most Mac products seem to keep my computer flowing better than PC programs

this is a great idea, i love the creativity in this
it only sounds decent for 2 layers of songs, and for the maximum duration (6 sec/song)

any program that can't support all audio file types, can't play multiple selected files on a hard drive at once, can't play .m3u files straight from disk, is a huge memory hog and is slow, etceeeeeeeeeeetera, etc etc etc (there's about 10 more reasons) shouldn't be used - period.
