Do you think that The Used's self-titled album is better than all three of Motion City Soundtrack's albums or Panic at the Disco's first two albums on an ALBUM vs. ALBUM basis, not together.

Even If It Kills Me is better than The Used's debut, and that's the weakest MCS record. Never got all the hype for the Used record. Don't listen to Panic! so I don't know about that.

I would say that first Used album is better than anything Panic! has done, but I wouldn't take it over the two MCS albums. I love them <3

i love all these bands, and most of their records.
MCS owns on every single album they've released. Panic's Pretty Odd is so great. and their debut is catchy and really fun. i really like The Used's debut, but not that much.

I agree with you. Panic's stuff is solid. I like it a lot. If you enjoy MCS, then you'll definitely enjoy Panic. At least their debut.

I should have put an age restriction on this. I have a feeling most of the MCS/Panic votes are younger people who weren't around when The Used's album came out.

The Used's debut album is one of the strongest debut albums I've ever heard. BUT, PATD's "Pretty Odd" was amazing.
Interesting poll. I would take I Am the Movie over The Used's self-titled for the following reasons:
1. Though Buried Myself Alive, The Taste of Ink, and Blue and Yellow are amazing songs, most of the rest of the album features a gross amount of screaming, which I can't stand.
2. I like Motion City's sound a whole lot better as a whole. They're actually one of my favorite bands. Plus, I Am the Movie has such classics as Modern Chemistry, Indoor Living, My Favorite Accident, Perfect Teeth, Capital H, and The Future Freaks Me Out (though I played that song the hell out).
Note. I would probably take Commit This to Memory over The Used's self-titled as well. Can't comment on Pretty. Odd just yet, as I just checked it out of the library.
Albums I would take The Used's self-titled over:
1. Panic's first album. Garbage outside of "The Only Difference..." Never understood the hype.
2. Even If It Kills Me. Really mediocre (at best) album outside of Broken Heart and Hello Helicopter.

You didn't mention by far the two best tracks on I Am The Movie. "Don't Call It A Comeback" and "Mary Without sound" are by far the best tracks on that album. "Modern Chemistry" is awesome, and the others are okay, but "The Future Freaks Me Out" is garbage.
Also bro, On My Own has minimal screaming as does Poetic Tragedy and Noise and Kisses barely has any as well.

Don't Call It A Comeback was the first MCS song I was introduced to, and I hated it. I still do ("Throwdown" was the second, and I love it (still do)). Mary Without Sound, in my opinion, is one of the weakest tracks on the album :-) Looks like we're on the opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of our like or love for MCS.

I wonder how many people here are like Rock and have voted on a poll featuring a screamo band when they clearly can't tolerate screaming.

What the fuck? So people aren't allowed to have a valid opinion for not liking screaming? Last time I checked, that was an opinion in itself.
For the record, I completely agree with him and I listen to bands like Underoath, La Dispute, and the Used.

Not liking screaming automatically means you are going to like ANY album that has screaming vocals less than you like Motion City or Panic albums. Does it not? Therefore it gives us a flawed statistic. You are coming into the poll with a bias against a whole genre of music, not just a particular album, and therefore can't say which is "better" cause you don't like screamo as a whole.
But by not liking screaming, they don't think The Used's debut album is better than any MCS or PATD albums. Therefore they should still be allowed to vote.

This poll is for people who like all of the albums (like myself). If people voted who didn't like screaming, I should have just made it a "Do you like screaming?" poll.

I, in fact, love screaming. I do it all the time. Here's a picture one of my bros took of me having a jolly good time screaming:

You're assuming that "not liking" equals a bias, when it's perfectly reasonable to dislike much of a genre based on the fact that the vast majority of it sucks hard. I tend to dislike screaming because it's an extremely heavy-handed tool to convey emotions which just about anyone can do, and also because I'm not five. There's no discernible skill in yelling simple lyrics loudly on top of bland backing music. But I can appreciate when artists of any genre are actually talented, and that's why I'm able to enjoy the music of bands like the Fall of Troy, the Blood Brothers, and Fear Before the March of Flames, because they actually know what they're doing.
This poll is for people who like all of the albums (like myself).
You never said that.
If people voted who didn't like screaming, I should have just made it a "Do you like screaming?" poll.
So if there's people who disagree with your opinion about these three albums, then you want to shut them out? Why should somebody who is indifferent to screamo be not be allowed to express that opinion, especially if you're asking them to compare a screamo record to non-screamo records and especially when you're on the fucking poll forum? God forbid people give their opinions on the poll forum.

I prefer the Used's old one, better then PATD or MCS with ease.

While the lyrics, screaming/singing, and guitar work aren't anything that special. I'm going to have to disagree with you on the "bland backing music." I know its not all over the place like The Fall of Troy (who are an amazing band, don't get me wrong.) but I love the drumming and bass in this album. The guitar is mostly used for power chords and the noise factor. But this album proved to me, that the bassist and the drummer can be creative even in this genre, whichis so full of shit bands no one has a place to hide.
That being said, this album got me into screaming in the first place. Heh...

Well... just making sure.
As far as the 'contradiction' goes. The Used's self-titled is awesome, ILOD is pretty good too... I said nothing about LFTL. It has a couple songs I like, but its just not that good. I'm a fan of The Used, Panic!, and MCS. I'm not trying to diss on any particular band.
I think A Fever beats out The Used just slightly, which is only marginally better than MCS's 2nd album which is their best, IMO.

The Used's S/T is really underrated, especially in how it affected the scene. there are still bands today being made to replicate that album.
