Wasn't that bad, but I hate all of the Barker mannerisms.

Like the forward back up down movement of his entire body and the flailing on the rack tom.
Other than that it was decent playing by all means. Pretty solid. The mics pretty obviously clip-popped.

Who is this barker guy?

Ha, ha ha. Ha. Ha.
Travis Barker. Blink-182.
Notorious (by other drummers) for a lot of the stuff he does behind the kit while playing.

I guess I see the similarities.

I don't really see the need in posting it here... but whatever. Seems like a pretty solid drummer.

is there a forum that is more applicable? It's the musicians forum. Here, we clearly have a musician playing drums. And another musician posting the video who recorded it. It doesn't get any more musician than that.

If you want to get like that, the description of this forum is, "Discuss technical issues relating to musicians". I don't really see this as a technical discussion, do you? I see it more as showing off.

I'm not even that bothered, but if this forum got totally flooded with videos like this, no one would bother coming here anymore.

I thought maybe it would spark some technical discussion. E.g. "how did you get that snare sound?"

I think the real question here is: Why is this guy in a recording studio without a full set of drums (middle tom)?

Lolwut?

He's got an A-OK 4 Piece kit. Y'know, like Buddy Rich?

In a studio? I'd think they'd provide him with as much as possible to get the album sounding just right. Guess not, though.

Well, if his parts only call for that many drums and cymbals, why not?

Almost every drummer I know plays a 4-piece kit like that.

If I was a drummer there's no way I'd have more pieces than that. That's the exact kit I'd imagine having, as far as components and set-up goes

By the way, if anyone can record drums, or has a really good set of drum samples, I may wish to collaborate with you on a song or two in the near future.

badly.

Yay for being broke.

I suppose I'm not accustomed to that kind of look. I've played kits with the most unnecessary pieces possible -- splash cymbal, cowbell, etc. Innovation comes easier when you've got more options for advantageous use.

sounds solid. not very interesting though. would have liked to have heard the actual drums instead of the mixed down version.

I guess. I've always found that more fitting for progressive/metal music. Some people just don't like having more than necessary. For the kind of music he's playing, his kit's perfect (I love the color). Although I do loves me some 5-piece double floor tom action.

terrible song. not very difficult (technically or rhythmically) to play. I love that set, though. SJC has some good kids. every drummer has their own unique mannerisms, but he definitely holds his sticks like Travis. it's possible that he's just bobbing his head to the beat, you know, like.. the.. guy keeping beat?
