View Full Version : Got My SAT Scores
Got a 1520 / 2400, first time taking it
Critical Reading I got a 560, the average is a 508
Math I got a 400, average is a 520.
Writing I got a 560, but there is no average yet for some reason it says.
On the essay I got 8/12.
I'm taking it again in June. SAT's are gay.

Wow. You killed it.
Wow. You killed it.
Everybody I know that has taken this new SAT has done horrible. Even the "smart" kids. Nobody knows how to do the math because our school county has not really encouraged it until now since College Board added a lot more of it to the SAT.

I got 1550 my first time, around 1530 my second, and 1650 my third time. I suck at those tests, plus I felt sick during the second one. I regret taking it 3 times since they see all your scores but two is alright. Usually colleges either choose your best score or average them.

I got 1810 my first time.
I then took it 6 months later and definitely got lower. I cant remember but it was around 1600.
I did ok, I guess.
I was suprised since I did really really bad on the PSAT.
I got so low... it was pathetic. As in the lowest out of everyone I knew.

I am only taking them for the first time in April. Every time I scheduled them, I cancelled cause I had better things to do like...go to shows.:)
Took for 2nd time in Jan and 2180 :D

Pretty much take 2/3 of the new score and you have the old one.
It's essentially a 1400/1600.
Jess7286
02/19/06, 10:21 PM
Oh, that's decent I guess. I have no clue how the new one works but on the old one, I did decently well. Just keep in mind kids, SATs aren't ALL that matters and just because you do well on them doesn't mean you'll do well in college.

I raped the SATs. I'm glad I took it before they added writing tho, because taking the writing part in the PSATs made me want to kill a baby. I took the PSATs in January in the cafeteria when a window was open, it was miserable.
But the SATs were a joke, that word analogy shit is so easy, and I have the most limited vocabulary in the history of the English language.

mine is ok, up to maybe geometry
then, to quote NFG, its all downhill from here. I dont even understand calculus
pinkjinx87
02/22/06, 02:48 PM
I almost failed geometry...the teacher said that if I didn't pass the End of course test, then she would have to fail me. Luckily, I somehow managed to pass with an 87. Which surprised me because I really suck at tests.

02/22/06, 02:56 PM
Yeah, I took Trigonometry my senior year (last year) and did really good in it. The teacher ruled. I liked the way she taught it..she made us answer questions and we had to either know it or look dumb. But I guess it all depends on how the teacher teaches..the techniques, and if it works for you.
Shatter590
02/22/06, 02:59 PM
trig is easier than geometry I think. my trig teachers were hard, but I still scored a 76 on my regents.

Is regents your final exam? And how many teachers did you have?
allstarme24
02/22/06, 03:02 PM
wow, this makes me feel old. when i took the SATs it was still out of 1600. i didn't even know they changed it.
i also had to take the ACTs. kicked its ass though.
pinkjinx87
02/22/06, 03:03 PM
They just changed the SATs like a year ago, right? I don't remember when, but not too long ago.
Shatter590
02/22/06, 03:04 PM
regents are a state mandated standardized test in a goven subject you need to pass to get credit for graduation. only NY has them as far as I know.
I had a different teacher for both semesters.
pinkjinx87
02/22/06, 03:07 PM
Oh yeah, NC has that except they are called EOC..End Of Course tests.
Shatter590
02/22/06, 03:10 PM
i'm sure every state does.
up until recently, though, you didnt need to take regents for your diploma. I never understood the difference, just the color of the stamp on your diploma.
pinkjinx87
02/22/06, 03:14 PM
Well we have to pass those tests or we don't graduate, thats how its always been. Sometimes though they change what classes that you have to take. Like I took this required class in the 9th grade called Political Economic and Legal systems. Then, couple of years later they decide that kids don't have to have this class to graduate.
Shatter590
02/22/06, 03:16 PM
they had that for science, some weird, conglomerate of all the sciences, then it justupped and vanished, I would have preferred it to chem, honestly.

02/22/06, 03:22 PM

pinkjinx87
02/22/06, 03:23 PM
I can say that I got lucky when it came to sciences in high school. Somehow I always managed to have the easy teachers. For instance, I took AP Chemistry..this teacher was soo easy, and an AP class at that.
Shatter590
02/22/06, 03:24 PM
my school devised a program for AP Forensics. I took it, and it was amazing. and the credits transferred to my college too, unlike my AP english and AP bio
pinkjinx87
02/22/06, 03:26 PM
To be able to transfer an AP class into a college credit here you had to take a test..did you have to do that?
Shatter590
02/22/06, 03:28 PM
yeah, and you needed at least a 3.0 out of 4.0 to get the creds to transfer. I got 4.0 in all of it, and my school said no tothe englush and bio. youd think with my scores in verbal and on essays they would have just waived the 120 or 220.
pinkjinx87
02/22/06, 03:30 PM
Yeah, it should have. I also took AP European History and that teacher made us write like crazy. I had a callous on my finger where I wrote so much. Then at the end of the year he collected our notebooks to make sure no one else would have the notes for the next semester. I was going to sell my notes too..lol.
Shatter590
02/22/06, 03:34 PM
lol, naughty girl
i never took notes, but i did grow accustomed to writing. when I hit college, I was miles ahead of my peers. then my college had this writing crackdown, and once again, despite my high scores, I needed to prove to them that I could write.
pinkjinx87
02/22/06, 03:39 PM
Did you prove it to them?
Shatter590
02/22/06, 03:42 PM
i got a 6 out of 6. showed them up.
pinkjinx87

The Crusades
Religions of Mexico and Central America
Intro to Ehtnomusicology
Anthropology of GenderHm. I think that The Crusades would be a cool class. How are these classes? Hard?
Shatter590
02/23/06, 01:59 PM
50/50 split
Crusades is awesome, but I also know the professor, so its a breeze because we're pretty much friends and I know her system. Same for religions of mexico. I also get major latitude when it comes to projects.
Ehtnomusicology sounds cool, but most of what ive been studying is tribal music and warfare/religion. not as fascinating as I;d hoped, but not brutal either
Anthro of gender on the other hand...
my prof is a feminist, and she hits guys hard with quizzes and everything. i'm pulling an A, but its a hard A
pinkjinx87
02/23/06, 02:01 PM
So you like history? I loved learning about european history. And don't you hate how some teachers are like that? Like your feminist teacher?
Shatter590
02/23/06, 02:03 PM

ive had 3 feminist teachers. most of the time i can skirt by it. but this one...she thinks i'm faking my views to get an easier grade.
history is fun, but to be honest, I never took a single history class in college. The most i got was in my anthro class, and that was mostly ancient history. or when I did eurpoean religions and we studied prehistoric europe and ancient greece. that was fascinating

In drivers ed, I had this driving instructor who didn't like girls for some reason. He critisized me the whole time I drove with him. But when a guy would drive, and drive horribly, he wouldn't say a word to them. And I drove pretty good for a kid who hadn't never driven a car before. lol

oh god lol. I had a prof like that first semester, he hated women and felt they had no place in college. but he also hated just about everybody. he was a harsh grader and it was really hard to earn his respect.
He gave out 2 A's (one to a woman at that), 4 B's, 15 C's and maybe 100 D's & F's. ive never seen so many credit/no credits in my life.
pinkjinx87
02/23/06, 02:14 PM
O yeah..and there was my geometry teacher, remember the one that I almost failed? lol, yeah she was really hard. She also taught Calulus and all my friends in that class said that they were failing. And these are smart kids too. So obvioisly she taught at a much higher level. Maybe she should teach college..nevermind, with my luck I would probably have her as my teacher here. lol
Shatter590
02/23/06, 02:17 PM
lol
you'll get a lot of that in college. some professors, especially the older ones or the ones who teach a lot of grad courses, expect you to either know everything or fail. ive seen many a student drop out of college after taking one hellish class.
ironically, the teachers I had in HS who had PhD's and taught college, were MORE understanding of the students than the others.
pinkjinx87
02/23/06, 02:20 PM
Well so far my teachers aren't that bad, but then again i'm only in a community college right now. I'm definitely considering transfering on over to UNC. And i'm also taking online classes..which is really not my thing. I would rather be in a class than online. Actually talk to the teacher rather than email her.
Shatter590
02/23/06, 02:22 PM
problem with online classes is the impersonality. i agree, its better to actually see and speak to your professor rather than just email or IM. plus it eliminates of the best aspects of class: discussion.
pinkjinx87
02/23/06, 02:24 PM
I know..we have this discussion board thing, but it's not the same. I can't really argue a point online..I just can't lol. I'd much rather see these people. But I guess it's more convienient. I don't know..I just don't like it.
Shatter590
02/23/06, 02:28 PM
well, you obviously spend enough time on a discussion board as it is lol.
college is more about socializing than classes, i feel. class is awesome, but i grew more from making friends and hanging out on campus.
pinkjinx87
02/23/06, 02:31 PM
Not as much as I spend on AP..lol. This takes me from my discussion time for school, but I get it done. I am supposed to talk on there atleast 3 times a week. I agree..college is not only about trying to get your major, but to meet interesting people and to grow more as a person.
Shatter590
02/23/06, 02:33 PM
and partying lol. you cant forget that.
digital age my arse, its just not as fun as being on campus.
pinkjinx87
02/23/06, 02:36 PM
O yeah..partying must not forget that awesome aspect of college lol. I had to take as much classes as I could this semester. I want to take all the stuff I have to and get that over with now. Like those horrible math classes.
Shatter590
02/23/06, 02:38 PM
i hear you, i did all my requirements in the first 4 semesters, leaving the last 6 for whatever i wanted to. thing was, i never overloaded on classes, which i guess is why i graduated late.
pinkjinx87
02/23/06, 02:42 PM

thats the plus side. when i wasnt working i could focus on class more, but then again, I could also focus on fun more lol.

Shatter590
02/23/06, 02:56 PM
i get distracted so easily, that i can often get bored.
i was taking this class in religious experience, and the prof, while nice, was exceptionally boring. so i would spend the time writing out tales of whatever. I did this series called the train stories that were all short, first person tales centered around trains. then I started my book, and, well, its gone on since.
you do realize that we've completely jacked this thread lol
pinkjinx87
02/23/06, 02:58 PM
I know lol, we've been like this every day, with whatever thread is handy at the time. I write too. Usually when something pops into my mind, I write it down. Mostly short stories or poetry. I might suck at it at times, but I love writing.
Shatter590
02/23/06, 03:03 PM
this is true. lol
i havent been doing poetry for a long time, not since HS. i tend to write down whatever ideas I have, and sometimes a story develops from it. last one i wrote i sold for about $500
pinkjinx87
02/23/06, 03:06 PM
Nice. That would be a good way for me to earn some cash lol. I write some weird stuff. Mostly fantasy or sci-fi. I like making up my own world. Deciding how the people are..it can be futuristic or whatever.
Shatter590
02/23/06, 03:09 PM
i write mostly fantasy. not much for futuristic, for some reason it never comes out right.
right now i'm working on a fantasy that incorporates the mythologies of europe that i pulled from the religions of europe class. traditional celtic fantasy, using actual celtic gods lol
pinkjinx87
02/23/06, 03:15 PM
I love celtic stuff. And scottish stuff. I want to go to the UK. Fantasy is awesome to work with to me. The skys the limit in writing a fantasy to me.
Shatter590
02/23/06, 03:18 PM
ive been to the UK, and its amazing. ironically, it took a trip to ireland to get my mind flowing again and into the mood to write. i was stale back home, doing nothing but fan fiction and bad BS.
try to go thru school. thats what I did.
pinkjinx87
02/23/06, 03:21 PM
Your lucky. I want to go because i'm over half scottish and welsh, and because it has alot of history and its a beautiful country.
