i would say i've only recently begun listening to mathrock, but have a bunch of prog.rock and/or some weird spin offs of those genre, but would love any suggestions:

heres what i've already been listening to:

so many dynamos
fugazi
plastic constellations (not really mathrock)
white denim
mars volta (not mathrock either)
maps and atlases
medications
these arms are snakes

I've always heard Minus the Bear mentioned as math rock :shrug:

Those are good, especially Battles
Adebisi Shank is a current favorite, they gain inspiration from Battles.

I've always heard Minus the Bear mentioned as math rock :shrug:

Minus The Bear has definite math rock influences but they're not math rock. They still write in fairly standard time signatures. Same with These Arms are Snakes. They're totally influenced at times, but they're more of a weird post-hardcore band.
