Hey everyone,

I recently went to a local music shop looking at bass amps when a used '65 Fender Twin in mint condition caught my eye. It was priced at $1000 which was way too much. I talked the guy down to $850. I'm wondering if this is worth it. In talking with a couple of other friends, they insist that I could find one for $600. What are your guys' thoughts? Should I suck it up and get it at $850 or keep looking? Anyone on here selling one?

Is it a reissue? If it's original, has it been re-capped? Does it have the original speakers? What shape is it in cosmetically? Has it been modified? Does it have a 2- or 3-prong electrical wire?

it is a re-issue. i'm not sure about all of the other stuff. i'll shoot the store an email and see if they have the answers. cosmetically it looks untouched

If it's a reissue, it won't need to be re-capped and it won't have the 2-prong wire. Is it handwired or PCB?

Aren't all the RI's PCBs anyway?

The Tweed Twin RI is handwired, but I'm only seeing PCB models of the Blackface.

Also, are you sure a Twin is what you want? These are EXTREMELY loud and EXTREMELY heavy amps. They're louder than most half stacks, and they are NOT designed to get distortion at low volumes and don't take overdrive pedals very well. I'd only get a Twin Reverb if you're looking to be VERY loud and VERY clean. If that's not the case, I'd look into something else that is more suited for your needs (and probably cheaper).
